Time graph for Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles
You get two workouts on two DVDs. The main program, “Four Fast Miles,” is a challenging, all-cardio workout that includes varying walking tempos. It has five complete slower-then-faster cycles -- lower-impact walking segments alternated with higher-impact, higher-speed “bursts” (e.g. jogs, pendulums, step kicks). But don’t worry, Leslie always provides a similarly intense, low-impact option (e.g. a wide-ranging side-step instead of a jog). Like the all-sizes-and-shapes class, you’re sure to be energized by the varying tempos and Leslie’s legendary enthusiasm (everyone really is laughing and having fun). The exercises are super easy to follow and totally non-dancy — mostly variations of marches, jogs, kicks and knee-ups. Soundtrack includes sing-along vocal oldies like “We are Family,” “I Feel Good,” “Respect” and “New Attitude.” The second workout is "1 Mile Jog." This short program is more intense than regular walking. Instead, you’re actually jogging - moving at a much faster pace with your feet off the ground (e.g. a familiar side step becomes a leg-swinging pendulum, a knee-up now incorporates a hop). ©2007, 2007. Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim 4 Fast Miles

Exceeded my expectations and perfect for a klutz!
I first thought walking in place couldn't be that effective...HA! Don't be fooled!!! This is terrific and I'm completely addicted. I love that Leslie cues in plenty of time for you to know what is coming up next. You won't get lost or frustrated; you always know which way she's going. The steps are easy to follow, great for a klutz like me, yet highly effective. The side steps are excellent lateral moves that we all lack in day to day leg movement, which is usually just forward & backward (so hello, stronger hips & outer thighs!). Her reps are long enough to build your confidence of being able to accurately follow, but not so long that you get bored. Sure, she's chatty. But you either find that motivational and distracting from the fact you're working out, or you easily learn the moves and mute it next time to listen to your ipod while you follow along. I also love the interval pace. Think you can't walk 4 miles? I didn't think I could either. Try this and see that you can! - posted by dmm on 8/5/2008
It's give you a solid workout
I have the original "2 Mile Walk", which I still pull out and like to use. Since then I have had the WalkBlaster (too easy for my level), and Walk Away the Pounds for Abs. The 4 mile slim walk by far is the most advanced. During the "boosted walking" it really gets your HR up and breaks a sweat. I do like this video, however as mentioned by others, the video production is poor. The lighting and angles are bad, all the walkers are too close, and Leslie just seems loopy--too chatty and all over the place. The James Brown doll is a low-point. Despite this, I continue to use because I tend to stick with it and it gives me a good workout. - posted by Jill on 6/18/2008
Good workout
I have used other Leslie videos in the past and was ready to step up the workout. This does it, you have the booster sections, some new moves and it is easy to follow. There is a music only choice which is helpful after you used the workout several times and don't need the verbal cues or chit chat from Leslie. The "time left" stamping helps you stay motiviated, thinking almost done. - posted by Lisa on 6/3/2008
Leslie's best workout yet.
I love it....I am 35 years old and I have always had a problem with my weight. I worked out with her for years. I have lost off 23 pounds since January 2008 but working out with Leslie. I have a lot of Leslie's tapes. I have even got the one that came out on June 6, 2008; but this one is my favorite. I love it because it is so fast. Me and my friend work out just about everyday with Leslie and we are always looking for something that is fast. I really like the jogging and intervals. You are really sweating when you get done with this work. I don't mind that Leslie talks alot; I find her to be very motivating. She makes you laugh and the time goes by really fast. I would recommend this to any one who wants to lose weight. I will be using this 4 mile workout for a long time. It's great. - posted by Linda on 6/2/2008
Excellent Workout
I am getting back into shape after nearly two years. I have used Leslie's videos in the past, and I love this one. I appreciate the diversity of walkers in this DVD, and I feel like I'm really working out. It is so easy to adapt the intervals to your fitness level. It is one of her best ones! - posted by Lee on 4/19/2008
Perfect Interval Workout!
I now weigh 115 pounds and wear the same size jeans I did in High Shcool because of this video. I have been searching a long time for a "basic" aerobics video where you don't have to learn fancy moves. This one gets your heart rate up for a long period of time and provides a great workout. And who cares whether she's silly, talks too much, or has a stupid doll in the video. The only thing that matters is you get a good workout. (I can't believe people complain about things that don't even matter, when you just need a good workout!) Sometimes I do this workout 2 or 3 times a day if I have time. I will continue to use this video for many years to come. - posted by Corenne on 4/5/2008
Great Interval Workout! Great for even the Advanced exercisers!
This is a great workout! You get 4 miles completed in 50 mins! You build up a great sweat and this really helps to tone your entire body. There are no weights or bands used on this one, just cardio. The first 25 mins or so are intervals of fast walking and jogging. If you are unable to do the high impact moves, there is someone always modifying the moves for low impact. Don't let that fool you though, the low impact is still a fast paced workout! I did this DVD today for the first time and I know this is one that I will have in my collection for yrs to come! The moves are not complicated but pwerful. Leslie is very chatty in this DVD... she loves to laugh and joke with the other walkers. If that bothers you, then don't buy this; she does it often. She also has her family walking with her and you know she's having a good time. That in turn gets you motivated to have a good time! She's not fake and doesn't pretend that walking got her into shape, you KNOW it did! It is a challenging workout, you get out what you are willing to put in! Buy this one! - posted by Julia on 3/25/2008
An easy DVD
I am in my late 50's and faithfully walk 4 miles out of doors daily. I purchased this DVD to use on those few days when the weather is bad and I don't want to go out of doors AND when I want an easy exercise in less than one hour. She is definitely chatty and bubbly. I found the DVD too easy for me. So I modified it to my own needs. Where she walks, I continued to jog. Where she performs so that one can catch their breath, I continued and created my own higher- impact aerobics. In this manner, I got the level of aerobic exercise that I needed and wanted. The reason I am not returning the DVD is because of my current age and realizing that I am closer to actually going at her pace and her steps than increasing much more my level of aerobics. I also like this DVD because the steps are simple and I really do not have to think about them. Rather, I can let my mind roam, and in fact, I watched a TV show while listening to the beat and ever so often looking at the computer screen to see what the next move was. - posted by Shula on 3/16/2008
Definitely one of Leslie's best workouts!
Love it! This is what I want in a walking workout - fast paced and intense 4 mile walking! I like the big group of walkers and the fun music. The dark set doesn't bother me. Walking with Leslie is like having a friend in your home helping you to keep active daily. Her workouts helped me lose over 50 pounds - just walking 4 miles daily (I mix and match her workouts) along with strength training 3X a week. Definitely a keeper! - posted by Maggie on 3/8/2008
not my favorite
I have almost all of her programs, and have used them for mnay years. But please, there is a difference from being upbeat, perky and motivating and being just downright goofy. This workout should be shown on Nickelodeon for the pre-school crowd. They would love it and find the creepy James Brown puppet quite amusing. I'm sorry to say this will be the last Leslie Sansone workout that I buy. Times are economically tough and I don't have the $$ to waste on silliness. - posted by Elaine on 3/6/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
