Certified instructor description: An excellent introduction to resistance band toning — the video package comes with a 5-foot band. You can adjust the intensity of any exercise simply by changing how you hold the band (e.g. shorter to increase the tension). Leslie’s calm — never rushed — one-on-one instruction is very easy to understand. She demonstrates each technique while carefully explaining the benefits you’re getting. Includes an effective mix of both standing and floor exercises. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim Fast Firming
Really love this combination of the band and the walk. - posted by ALMA on 10/3/2011
Good one to add on
I like this one...it is a beginner level; if you want a more strenuous workout, look elsewhere. In the DVD, Leslie says you will want to work up to 2 sets when you're more advanced...so do the DVD twice to get the 2 sets.. I especially like the floor exercises... It is a nice compliment to the Walk Slim DVD's. I usually do this one after I have done 3 fast miles or 4 fast miles. It's a keeper. - posted by Melanie on 7/4/2010
Great Toning Workout!
I am just starting fitness walking with Leslie. I walk a 2 mile workout 5 days a week and I decided that I wanted to put some toning into my routine. But I didn't know where to start so I was looking through the rest of Leslie's workouts and found this one. There were a lot of negative reviews for it saying it was only for beginners and that is exactly what I wanted so I got it. I am so happy I did and I think that Leslie did a fantastic job putting it together. I love to workout with her. She makes me smile and I have gotten great results from this workout. All beginners don’t be afraid to try this workout. I am so happy I got it! - posted by Emily on 1/10/2010
I like it!
First off, it's rated Beginner, so if you are beyond that or are looking for an "advanced" strength session, look elsewhere. Secondly, there are 2 sets of most exercises, however, like stated, the reps are not counted out. I found that the light band this came with was too light for most exercises, so up graded to a medium strength band. I think I can use a heavy weight flat band for other exercises like the floor work. I think this workout could be for anyone, just have several levels of bands ready. Perhaps it's just me, but I am not one of those exercisers anymore that has an "all or nothing" attitude. I have days were I want something for the sake of getting strength or cardio done without pushing myself. I'm 27, far from senior citizen, and felt I got a great workout. My back muscles (low to mid level) are sore after doing the seated back extentions with a band. There are a couple of exercises in here that I never thought of doing with a band, but only the cables at the gym; I found it educational as well. Yes beginners will get a lot out of this. I am someone who is very experienced with Strength training; I used to compete in High School and just after in weight lifting. SO I'd like to fancy myself as someone who knows just a little bit about this. This is a DVD that once you do a few times, you can just do it from memory when you have time throughout the day. Sometimes, though, you just feel better watching along with someone else. Leslie is alone in this DVD, which is good in this case. Many background exercisers tend to have poor form with strength, so having Leslie Only, you have no choice but to see proper form. It's a good DVD. No it's not Cathe or Prevention, I think that's the point. Beginners will do great with this. All others, myself included, can use this for one of those days when you don't have the energy to kill yourself with heavy weights. You don't have to use heavy weights all the time to see results and to better your health and body. Good DVD, good purchase. A nice compliment to all of the Walk Slim DVDs. - posted by Julia on 10/26/2009
Not a DVD I will recommend
I was lucky that I got this DVD as a gift and did not pay for it as I can say it's not worth it! I was excited to try it as I am looking for tubing and resistance band workouts to add to my Strength Collection of Cathe Friedrich DVDs. Something short and sweet for those days when Cathe is too much, or your short on time and need a full body workout in minimal time w/minimal equipment. OMG this DVD was simply bad! There is no counting reps and there is actually more breakdown and explanation of the movements than actual movement! There are rarely even 2 sets of each exercise, let alone the uneven reps. It would be great for a complete beginner, someone who has no clue what a lunge is or looks like or how to do a bicep curl, ect. However, within a few uses of it, even the most beginner of exercisers will really outgrow this. Both sides are worked unevenly, and she seems a little discombobulated at times going from one exercise to another. I actually had to stop the DVD about 20 minutes into it as it was just too easy and honestly a joke as it provided no resistance/benefit to me even choking up on a HEAVY weight band. Senior Citizens would benefit as would absolute beginners. There are so many better workouts for strength on the market like Cathe or even Prevention Fitness for those not looking for a Super-Human lifting experience like Cathe (although she's quite good!). WOW, this is just not worth the time spent working out. If I am going to do a total body workout, I want to feel I worked out when I am finished. If I am going to shake my head in shock after a workout, I want it to be because it gave me a run for my money, not because it was a waste of money. - posted by Julia on 8/4/2009
OK
It's not what I expected. There is hardly any ab work at all. I'm having a hard time working a toning work out in my routine. They are always too hard or too easy!I don't do this one after the 3 or 4 mile because I don't have time for that. But I WILL combine it wiht my exercise bike or a 2 mile tape. - posted by Angie on 8/28/2008
Awe, Les, why ?
I can't believe Leslie Sansone would put out a workout as poor as this one. It's even way too easy for a beginner level, as some other reviewers have pointed out. I had to giggle at the lady giving this to her grandmother. I won't even do that since my 82 year old Gramma can do tougher workouts than this. It's truely aweful. If you've never used a band before, perhaps this would be a good intro for you to get a good idea as to how a band can be used. Other than that, this is pretty useless. - posted by Melissa S on 6/8/2008
I really like it
I don't understand why so many people hate this dvd.Pause it and do extra reps on some of the exercises to make it harder. That's why I do. Usually do this after doing one of her 3 of 4 mile dvd's to finish out my workout. - posted by Maritza on 2/17/2008
I really like it
I guess we all have our opinion of Leslie's workouts. I did like this one. I like variety so I don't get bored and on a day that I need a slower pace, this is good for that. - posted by Gisele on 2/7/2008
Too easy for a beginner!
I usually like Leslie's videos. They're not all sweat-breakers, but they at least get the blood flowing and wake me up in the morning. I thought I might be able to do this one in a hurry, or in addition to one of her short walks. I'm totally disappointed. It's definitely for beginners, but even a beginner would have to do it a few times to get anything out of it. - posted by Lana on 1/24/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
