Time graph for Leslie's Fast & Firm: 4 Really Big Miles
An indoor, walking-style fat-burner that builds in intensity. You can start with the first segment and gradually work your way to a higher fitness level (each of the four “miles” gets faster and more challenging). As always, Leslie’s enthusiasm is inspiring and her choreography is easy to follow. The first two segments are classic Walk Aerobics — just four basic moves: marches, kicks, side-steps and step-touches. The third mile speeds it up with gentle jogging and simple grapevines. The final segment uses an optional resistance band to tone your upper body as it boosts the cardio effectiveness. Includes some recognizable vocal hit songs (e.g. “Everybody Dance Now”). A 5-foot resistance band is optional. ©2007. DVD has: Chapter menus, Close captions.

Leslie's Fast & Firm: 4 Really Big Miles

fast & fun
I love this dvd! Those 4 miles went by very fast even though Leslie didn't do a lot of jogging as some of her previous tapes. I hope Leslie continues to do more of the "faster" routines. - posted by diane on 5/9/2008
Stop your talking
I have 24 of her programs and have the same problem with all of them. I always like them at first. After 20 to 30 times of doing them, I cannot stand the repetition and monotony of her preaching. I want to scream. Relief was in site with a "music only" option which I always used on the few programs the option is there. Then they took it away on the 4 really big fast miles. I do like the fast mile programs and use them almost daily. My rating would be much higher if not for the talking. - posted by Exercie Gal on 4/26/2008
Leslie Rocks!!!
I purchased Leslie's slim fast walking system & love it, but this is a great addition. This combines all her slim fast walking techniques, and gives you a great workout. As Leslie says if you don't burn off a meal with this workout your eating too much. Love it!!!! - posted by JoRie on 4/25/2008
Boosting up the Fun Factor!
I have been using Leslie's videos for a long time and have found my favorites. Great workouts, I like her chatter...but I know every comment and instruction by heart. So I ordered this one. I LOVE IT! I was concerned about coming from the 5-mile one down to a 4-mile one, but IMO this is a better workout. New music (for the most part) and I loved it when she let a "class" member take over the lead. The whole thing was fun. What a wonderful addition to my collection! - posted by Peggy on 4/24/2008
Challenging and Fun
I have 3 other Leslie videos (4 Fast Miles, 4 Mile Super Challenge, and Walk and Firm w/Intervals). This is definitely my favorite (although I like them all). This one is a great workout, has lots of variety, good music, and is fun to do. Leslie and all the other walkers look like they are having a lot of fun too, and that is something I like about her videos. - posted by Lisa on 4/9/2008
Felt happy after I did this workout
This video was my first Leslie video ever. I had avoided buying her workouts because they seemed like they would be too easy (I am Int/Adv level). But, I was wrong...This video was a nice challenge and just made me feel good. The workout itself is walking with some extra moves, a few jogging bursts and some band work for upper body. You get out of this workout what you put into it - there is plenty of room for modifications with this workout, so any level would get a nice workout from this. The music was motivating and I thought Leslie was motivating. Yes, she is chatty and giggly, but I thought she was very sweet. She is just having fun and trying to be encouraging and I think her upbeat attitude is great. I felt very happy after I did this workout...her bubbly attitude is contageous! I highly recommend this video! - posted by ceh on 4/1/2008
excellent cardio
I LOVE this DVD (and the other four-mile one). My husband has been a runner for a number of years, but even he said the workout was "hardcore." Leslie is very encouraging but runs a tight ship. Expect to be challenged, and expect results! - posted by Amie on 3/31/2008
This fabulous
I am loving this walk slim series. This is so much fun and alot to choose from the intensity is perfect in this. I usually do Cathe for aerobics, but have a bad disk problem so I decided to start walking instead of jumping all around. i am diggin this --- great purchase hope leslie does more. I know Leslie aggravates some people(even my husband said as he was walking by as I was w/o boy her laugh is irritating) I said I love the way she is ,in this DVD set she is motivating and a hoot... I give it an A+.. - posted by Deborah on 3/25/2008
My favorite!
This is my favorite Leslie workout! I have the Four mile walk, Walk Jog, and Walk and Kick. The music in this video keeps you going and feeling energized. The relaxed atmosphere of the participants in the video is great, makes you feel you are there with them. Leslie's energy is contagious. I like how she always encourages you. She encourages you to move and walk and just do your best. I got a great workout with this video and will use it again and again. This is a challenge for anyone who likes to move and sweat, yet do-able for a beginner exerciser. - posted by Diane on 3/23/2008
Really Fun!
I have several of Leslie's other videos, and I just purchased this one as a reward for losing my first 50 pounds. I think this one is really fun and has much more variety than some of her other workouts. I like how casual the atmosphere is (certainly not stuffy) and the workout really seems to move along; the time seemed to fly! The length and pace of the workout are both good, in my opinion. I actually ENJOY this workout and I love it that they all seem to be having a good time, too! I look forward to doing this video at least a couple times per week as I alternate it with other workouts. - posted by Tambra on 3/19/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
