Certified instructor description: Three videos and a new WalkBlaster ramp. The ramp boosts intensity, adds variety and especially targets your buttocks and thighs (as you press against the inclined surface). It’s also just plain fun -- Leslie uses the colors to cue the moves and position your feet (e.g. “place your left foot behind the green ...”). All three videos feature Leslie’s legendary motivation, enthusiasm and ultra-easy-to-follow choreography. “Slim and Thin” is all-cardio, with just a slight lower-body emphasis. “Shape and Firm” features alternating intervals of aerobics and lower-body-focused toning (lots of squats and lunges). “Sculpt and Burn” also uses intervals, but it works both the lower and upper body (and requires 1 to 3 lb. dumbbells or Leslie’s weighted balls). The ramp’s surface measures 34" by 17"; its height adjusts from 5½" to 7". ©2004. DVD has: Close captions.

Leslie's WalkBlaster Set with Ramp

Nice change to shake things up!
I'm a BIG Leslie fan and own most all of her videos, but after you've memorized all the moves and chatter, I get bored. I bought the Walkblaster set to shake up my routine and I really enjoy it. The first "Slim" video is purely introductory and I probably won't use it except for the days I'm unmotivated. The second "Shape" video uses the Walkbaster more and time goes by really fast. There's something psychological about thinking about the colors and where you're stepping -vs- just clock watching. The last video "Sculpt" is the toughest of the three and uses hand weights, either the WATP blue 2# balls or you could use hand weights. For those of you who mentioned wanting other videos that use the Walkblaster, try Gin Miller's Ramp Reinvented Super Sculpt. Gin's ramp is the exact same ramp, same colors, etc., and her sculpting video is tough! I tried the Cardio Challenge, but it was more dancy and didn't use the ramp as much. Overall the Walkblaster is a nice change to break up the same old same old and you'll definitely feel it in your legs, butt, etc. - posted by Lisa on 4/21/2009
great workout
I love the set. The ramp is great. I wish the videos were a little longer. Also, it would be nice if she made some additional videos, utilizing the ramp. - posted by Gisela on 9/3/2008
Love it!
My favorites of the WATPs are the WATP with the weighted balls and the WATP Express with the stretchie band. But this workout is just FUN! The workouts fly by and according to my Heartrate Monitor, I definitely burn more calories using the WalkBlaster. Also because I'm so focused on the colors I'm supposed to be tapping or stepping onto, it makes me focus on something else besides working out. Lots of fun--I've done all three of these videos and they are by far the icing on the cake for me. :) - posted by Elizabeth on 8/7/2008
Buy this and have fun!
I love the WalkBlaster! I believe that this is one of Leslie's better ideas. It breaks from her traditional walking videos. The WalkBlaster is really a lot of fun. It's like a stepper, but not in the traditional sense. I especially like doing the Mambo and the V-step on the Blaster; anyone can do them on the floor. I find that it is helping me with my balance and coordination. I relax and just have fun going along doing the steps with Leslie. I use the "Slim and Thin" cd everyday. I use it in conjunction with my other workout cds, and I feel that it makes my routine complete. I'm 50 and trying to get into better shape. My legs and buttocks are much firmer using the Blaster than before I started. I feel that it has made a big difference in my results. I do use the other two cds when I need a different intensity in my workout. I encourage anyone who is interested in this item to buy it. Leslie is a chatterbox; she does miscue, so just roll with it. I just keep going if I miss a step. I don't care if I start on the same leg as she, just as long as I start. These are minor things to which you will adapt. If Leslie comes out with another cd to add to this series, I will definitely buy it! Go ahead.........give it a try! - posted by Toni on 5/14/2008
Ok, but not intense enough
I love Leslie as well, however, I have to agree that this workout was not as intense as I would have liked it to be. - posted by DeeDee on 8/8/2007
Good workout - wish it was longer!
I love the two 30 minute videos, although I wish both were at least 40 minutes. The longer workout of Leslie's ramp series just doesn't have enough cardio. All are easy to do, and Leslie is easy to follow. - posted by Denise on 5/29/2007

Not Great
I bought the Ramp series around the holidays and I have decided to donate them to the public library. Leslie is a wonderful walking instructor but she is less gifted when it comes to toning/firming/strength videos. She rarely counts so one can do 20 lunges on one side and 12 on the other. - posted by Emma on 2/24/2007
Love it, Love it!
I just got the walkblaster today and did the first DVD. It was great. I was sweatn' and my heart was pumping! I loved that it was 30 minutes, a perfect workout that fit into my busy lifestyle. I anticipate using the other two tapes later this week. I loved using the ramp, what a great tool to work your lower body and to add intensity to your walking workouts! All in all a perfect 10! - posted by Emily on 2/8/2007
Need More Difficult Videos
I enjoy all of Leslie's videos, yet I'm not being challenged with the Walk Blaster. A more difficult tape should take care of this problem. I would like to spend more time on the ramp with varying degrees of difficulty. - posted by Lynn on 1/12/2007
Leslie Sandsone rocks!!!
I am 29 years old, fit and in my ideal weight range. I dont know what the fuss is about with the walkblaster. i think it is the best she has done yet. I have no regrets. It gets me sweating like crazy!!! I also adore her personality. That is what keeps me doing it over again. Love ya leslie. I have most your videos and they are all great. Cant wait for the next one. maria - posted by maria on 1/9/2007

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
sample time graph
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
