Certified instructor description: Based on the best-selling “Look Better Naked” book, this is a well-cued, no-nonsense workout. It really will make your naked body slimmer and more shapely (“like a girdle, strengthening this muscle will naturally pull you in”). The first segment alternates faster and slower cardio sequences to burn fat quickly, while also providing a welcome “recovery” phase. It also includes a few short toning intervals. The second section emphasizes time-efficient compound exercises that work multiple muscles at once (with many moves that specifically target your core and waistline). Requires 2 to 8 lb. dumbbells. ©2010. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Wide screen.

Look Better Naked

Good toning workout
I have mixed feelings about this. First of all, Jessica is a fab trainer and I have been her fan since quite a while now, but most of the cardio on her workouts (and not only this one) really disappoint. It almost seems as if she is afraid of putting us through an intense cardio segment, even when she is supposed to because of how short this workout is. I truly think she has much more to give in this aspect. I won't be doing the cardio of this dvd again. About the strength training part, is great! (this is usually where Jessica stands out). It works every muscle in your body and by itself delivers a good cardio workout because of complex moves involved. Time flies by and you definitely feel that you invested your time wisely. All in all, this dvd is worth your money just because of the strength segment and how likable Jessica is. - posted by Sofi on 3/27/2012
Look Better Naked
I have been very happy with this DVD purchased. It really heats you up especially your core (my problem area). It's challenging yet very encouraging. I can not complete all of the moves but it time as I get stronger, I know I will. I love the instruction given by the trainer. Well worth the money! Invest in this one for your DVD collection. - posted by Renee on 12/17/2011
Very Good Workout With a Silly Title
The always lovely, lively and highly motivating Jessica Smith leads this workout. I thoroughly enjoyed it, from the first time I did it. Not a fan of short workouts, I did the whole DVD as a single 50-minute routine. I like the sequencing of the aerobic circuit training followed by the toning, particularly since she frequently ramps up the toning reps, returning the heartrate to a cardio level. Jess has two back-up exercisers, one who does low impact modifications. There is lots of variety in both sections, and I had no problems with her cueing or her comments. My only objection is to the title. It almost sounds like a porno, and it's kind of a "well, duh" anyway. I mean, isn't looking better naked or clothed the whole idea? But I can't subtract from my rating from a good workout DVD over that. - posted by Janny on 12/16/2011
One of My Go-To workouts
First of all, let me say I love Jessica Smith and have most of her workouts. I love this one because the cardio is fresh and moves at a great pace. The strength workout combines several muscle groups at once and adds in balance challenges as well. The stretch at the end is nice and thorough. Definitely recommend this one~in spite of the title, lol. - posted by Elaine on 12/13/2011
My new go-to dvd
I've had this dvd for a week now and really enjoy it! I do both the cardio and weight segments which takes 50 minutes. I have to say this is the first dvd I've done where I forget about the time. Jessica is the right mix of friendly and encouraging. Good solid workout. - posted by Kristine on 9/15/2011
Don't waste your money!
I was hoping this would be a good video to use to switch up my usual Jillian Michaels workouts. The main reason I ordered it was because it could be broken down into 30 minute segments, but I'm sorry I ordered it. The weight workout is decent but the cueing in the cardio workout is poor at best. The instructor goes into long winded explanations of what's coming, then goes right into it, it would be much better if she broke it down first. With a few run-throughs I might be able to overlook the poor cueing if not for inane comments like "smiling burns calories" and "have a seat facing your legs." Oy vey! If you're looking for a video to use when you're short on time, you'd be much better off with Jillian's 30 Shred or Ripped in 30. I find them to be much better well-rounded workouts, tougher, easier to follow, and far less annoying than this one. - posted by Caroline on 8/27/2011
Good solid workout
I enjoy this dvd. It does take a time or two to get some of the combo's down...but then it's smooth sailing. I found the cardio to be more challenging than I expected and the shoulder routine is pretty killer with 8 lb dumbells. I will definitely use this to mix up my routine. - posted by Elizabeth on 8/26/2011
Awesome Workout!
I LOVE this workout. I have only been doing it for about 2 weeks now (I alternate the strength training and metabolic sections), but I already feel tighter and more firm and I have energy and it doesn't make you so extremely sore the next day that you don't want to keep going. Great queing as well...I don't get lost with the moves. - posted by Jill on 8/18/2011
You might not like at first...
The first day I did this dvd I don't know how many times I had to stop, rewind, and watch her explain and show what we were getting ready to do. I'm a faithful exerciser so the fact that I wasn't picking up on her cueing was frustrating to me. I wanted to do my workout and well, be done. The second time I did this workout was much better. I know this is how a new routine can go. This is a good dvd. I like how time is utilized by working many muscle groups at once. I also like being a little muscle sore afterwards too. It tells me things are being worked out of their comfort zone and that will give me results. You might not like the quick pace at first. But if you hang in there, you might change your mind and be very happy with the results. I am. - posted by Melissa on 8/3/2011
Gotta Love the Name, but........
I just couldn't get excited about the workout, it seemed kinda boring. Great instructor, good concept, just didn't grab me. I need something to grab my interest right off the bat to keep me going, and this wasn't for me. - posted by Cindy on 7/19/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
