Certified instructor description: A fluid aero/tone interval program that combines basic cardio with “choreographed” body sculpting. Patrick’s creativity is amazing — from subtle twists on classic moves to all-new step variations. The workout includes seven intervals; each one features two minutes of aerobics and four minutes of toning. The cardio incorporates the step in powerful, dynamic sequences (e.g. mountain climbers that transition across the bench). The toning also uses the step to boost intensity and vary your body position. The moves smoothly flow from one exercise to the next, usually targeting multiple muscle groups at once. Very high energy instructor. Requires two sets of dumbbells. ©2009.

Patrick Goudeau's Hard Work Conditioning 24/7

Great!
This is a great workout - some of the moves are different than your usual video workout. I hope Patrick keeps making videos! - posted by EAFN on 11/4/2011
Hard Work Conditioning 24/7
I just love Patrick. He's creative, innovative & fun. I haven't completely gotten through this entire workout as yet but I am thoroughly enjoying it thus far. I also take Patrick @ aerobic conventions as well. As I've said before he has a fan for life. - posted by Dawn on 4/7/2011
Great Workout
I am beginning to really like Patrick. This is the second Patrick video I have purchased, and it is quite challenging. I plan on buying more of his advanced videos because I am seeing results fast. My pants are more loose, and I like the fact I have more energy. Keep up the good work Patrick. - posted by Mary on 3/10/2011
Challenging
This is a fast paced challenging workout that is not boring. It sure will get you into shape fast. - posted by DD on 1/20/2011
Not for me!
I wanted to love this workout! I have and love Patrick's older Kitchen Sink Conditioning and Body Design. Both are fun, challenging, and emphasize moving in a way that builds integration and awareness. Not so this workout! If I had known that in the first five minutes after the warmup I'd be dropping to the floor with weights in hand, throwing my feet up onto the step behind me, and doing one-arm lat rows from that position -- I would have passed. This is too much of a "show off and burn calories" workout for me. - posted by Nancy on 12/31/2010
Fabulous
Hard work and lots of sweat as always with Patrick. Good instruction. I was able to do most of the routines the first time out, but have lots of room for improvement. I love that Patrick does the routine with you instead of stopping and jabbering. I work out every day and am glad I got this DVD to add to my weekly routine. Definitely not one I could do every day. - posted by Michelle on 11/6/2010
Unique and Intense Intervals
Like other reviewers I also felt energized after this workout. I did the entire workout, but had to stop it at times to catch my breath. The concept is 4 minutes of weights and 2 minutes of cardio but even the weight segments get the heart rate up. For the weight intervals, I chose heavy and modified some of the moves to do more weighted reps. Overall though it's a good challenge and time flies by. I didn't notice the 'oh my gosh' too much in this workout, in fact, I thought it was very pleasant and well cued with good music. I did not find the moves unsafe but I would recommend to concentrate on form and modify where needed. The DVD offers premixes for a 7 day rotation. - posted by holly on 10/19/2010
GREAT WORKOUT!
Patrick gives good cues, I enjoy feeling refreshed and energized after using this tape. - posted by Helen Jo on 7/29/2010
Great!!
This is one of my favorite Patrick videos. It is definitely Hard, and many of the moves I have to modify because they seem unsafe for me (I'm an older exerciser.) - posted by Bonnie on 6/19/2010
Loved It
I exercise 4-5 days of the week and rate myself as Intermediate to Advance. Videos I have tried include Cathe Friedrich, Billy Blanks, Jillian Michaels, Amy Bento, Amy Dixon (the list goes on) and this ranks as one of the best ones yet. Patrick has unique moves which makes the time fly by. The toning sections could be a bit more intense, so I increased the weight. The abs section is short but gets to the point and not the same old crunches. Loved it and highly recommend. Now looking for more Patrick Goudeau DVDs. - posted by Tracey on 6/3/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Step aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The step aerobics segments involve stepping up and down on a platform. The moves range from simple stepping to more choreographed exercises. These segments require a step bench platform. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
