Certified instructor description: More Aerobic Dance (M.A.D.) plus intense floorwork. The fast-paced cardio segment features super-creative choreography taught in a very “learn-able” style. Patrick’s having-fun attitude and easy laugh sets the tone — “you can do this.” It’s all non-stop dance — mambos, chassés, scoots, ball-changes, funky hips … plus some completely unique moves. He teaches one new pattern at a time. And, while you absorb his choreography, you can always use his easier “base” move. By the end, you’ll discover he’s dropped the base moves and your feet are flyin’. The floorwork looks simple — a blend of Pilates and yoga. But it requires strength, balance and mental concentration — it’s tough! ©2006. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Too Expensive For What You Get
I don't understand the large price tag attached to this DVD. I guess I was expecting something wonderful but was very disappointed. It was hard to follow and felt like a dance class. I sent mine back. - posted by Treena on 2/9/2008
Not What I Expected
This DVD should be listed under "dance". It really is more dancy than floor aerobics. I had a hard time following what Patrick was doing and after trying it a couple of times, I have decided it just isn't for me. Patrick does tend to act a little silly at times. I like more of a straight forward approach that will produce results. - posted by Teri on 12/31/2007
good if you like dancy videos
I tried this one- found it kind of frustrating to get the choreography but if you are comfortable with that you might like it better than I did. The toning part was fine-some interesting moves-I could see doing it again. I am usually quite tolerant of the instructers but Patrick does giggle a lot and it becomes a bit much at times. That being said he is very energetic and obviously a great dancer. I would try another video by him - posted by Trish on 12/17/2007
This is an advanced workout
This video is not worth the price. It is all dance and zero aerobics. Your abs will get nothing out of the dance workout, it barely even raised my heart rate. Even the floor work is pretty simple. I did not feel a thing the next day. If you love funky dance moves you would probably enjoy this, but I had a hard time listening to Patrick's constant "Whooo" and his non-stop giggling. - posted by Liza on 11/27/2007
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
