Time graph for Petra Kolber: Boot Camp Boogie
A well-structured workout that interweaves two distinct aerobic styles: athletic bootcamp and simple dance. It’s a uniquely interesting format that maximizes variety, energy and results. The intervals are even more diverse than just “bootcamp” and “dance.” Each cycle also includes a high-intensity/high-impact “cardio burst” followed by a slower recovery segment (it’s great for motivation; you can really push yourself because you know an easier interval is always coming up). All the moves are fluid and natural with excellent transitions (e.g. a basic athletic step smoothly morphs into a hip-swinging/foot-tapping dance routine). ©2009.

Petra Kolber: Boot Camp Boogie

So much FUN!
This workout was fun! Good old fashioned floor aerobics meets a little bootcamp/kickbox/dancey. The music was phenominal! Petra was so funny and cool! The outfits were cute! Not too dancey or too boot-campish, just a great mix of traditional floor aerobics with a little of each style thrown in and those ascending knee repeaters were AWESOME! Petra is so likable and charming too. I really liked this a lot! She really hit the mark with this one! Thanks Petra for a great and fun workout! - posted by TracyAZGirl on 3/1/2010
Not enough bootcamp or boogie
The instructor is bubbly, but I felt the intervals were too short, and the recovery sequences (repeated again & again)too redundant. The intensity variations are a nice touch, but nothing about this video is advanced. I will give it another try, but most likely this DVD will end up collecting dust, as there are others more appealing for my time and energy. - posted by Wendi on 2/26/2010
Fun, Effective, Fabulous!
I didn't expect to love this workout as much as I did. It really stands out from the rest in terms of fun factor, original and motivating music, flawless instruction, and effectiveness. You can do level 3, give this workout your all and really challenge yourself -- or take it easier. I would recommend this to anyone but really advanced cardio-ites. I am pretty advanced (usually rely on Cathe & Amy for Cardio), but still got a wonderfully invigorating workout that burned 400+ calories -- and most importantly, had a blast. When I want to push my limits, I pop in Imax 2. When I want to have fun, get my sweat on, and still feel challenged in parts, I'll grab this one. Thanks Petra -- you added a big shiny new gem to my collection :) FIVE STARS!!! - posted by Sam on 2/24/2010
Hurt my Knees
This is my first Petra video and I expected a much harder workout. It's definitely a begginer/intermediate. I didn't sweat as much as I do with Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim, Fast & Firm, 4 Really Big Miles. In fact I had to add a lot of overhead arm movements to get my heart rate up. The recovery sections were a distraction & unwarranted. Word of caution, if you have bad knees, this video will cause pain - lots of side moves and lunges. Petra's cueing is top-rate tho and her music choice great. - posted by Jane on 2/24/2010
solid workout
I agree with others that this workout seems easy (until you learn it). However, once you know the moves you can make them as big and hard as you like and thus get a really solid overall aerobic workout. I'm an inter/adv exerciser and I still find this DVD to be worth it. The intervals are excellent and I've been satisfied with this purchase. The music is great so this has gotten a lot of play by me. I recommend it :) - posted by SP on 2/21/2010
Get ready to sweat!
This was my first video by Petra and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't have time to learn complicated choreography and this fit the bill - easy to follow. At the end I felt worked out, but not exhausted. Great cardio. For those giving this workout a bad review b/c it's not "advanced" enough - don't buy int/adv workouts! If you want only advanced - buy advanced. - posted by Fran on 2/21/2010
Wonderful Workout
This is my first Petra video. I usually stick to Cathe but have been venturing out with my last Collage order by purchasing dvd's by Lisa Nunziella (Red Hot Cardio 2-love this) and this dvd along with Cathe's new cardio series. I'm The so glad I did. The intervals are more than doable since she offers 3 options of varying intensity and impact for each one. The music is also really good and high energy. Petra is very likable and down to earth (that why I love Cathe so much). I will definitely be purchasing some of her other workouts. Blessings, D - posted by Dee on 2/13/2010
LOVE the music!
I agree with a recent reviewer that the music is fabulous! It really motivates you to move your body and keep going, even if you are tired. Petra is really funny, but not in the annoying way. I could definitely do this video many times without getting tired of her. The moves are mostly basic, but they change up enough that I stay entertained. I like the 45 second intervals of high intensity. I was dripping sweat by the end. - posted by K-Lee on 2/10/2010
Fun and great instructor!
I thought the actual workout was great fun..the warm up I didn't like at all, it was strange with slow movements but the workout itself was a sweat worthy experience but you have to do the advanced version. Overall, I liked it alot and Petra isn't irritating or hard to follow... - posted by Kelley on 2/10/2010
The MUSIC is perfect
Thank goodness someone finally made a cardio routine using tribal like music. Nothing motivates me more than the music in a routine. You can't help but move with energy when you feel that beat. Not crazy about the 'freezing' motions (or non-motion). I just continue to move through it. - posted by Jan on 2/8/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
