Certified instructor description: Six complete circuits — each one has about three minutes of cardio, two minutes of toning and one minute of corework. And the sequence within the circuits is very clever — each aerobic interval uses one specific technique while its accompanying toning segment focuses on the complementary body part (e.g. jumping jack aerobics followed by leg-oriented toning). The cardio includes kickboxing, boot camp and Latin dance. The toning sections are each individually targeted: legs, chest, butt, back, arms and shoulders. Chris Freytag’s cuing is friendly and easy to follow. Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells. 1©2005. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Prevention: 3-2-1 Circuit Workout

Excellent workout
This is my first Chris Freytag DVD and I am now a fan. I like the way the workout is divided into cardio, strength and abs. Chris is a very motivational instructor and does good cueing. I will be on the lookout for her other videos. - posted by Tipi on 3/9/2012
Not Enough of a Good Thing
I think Chris Freytag has a great mix of cardio and weights. I just wish there was a little more intensity and length to the segments. She is definitely one of my favorite instructors. She knows her stuff and motivates me. - posted by Martha on 2/13/2012
Don't be so quick to dismiss this one!!
I have this dvd in my constant rotation. It's a great video and why are people comparing it to another dvd? Let me tell you that I very much enjoy this video! I am in good shape but I am also realistic. I do some advanced workouts but I know I cannot do jumping and running every day. This gives you a good workout and it's a lot of fun. Chris is in incredible shape! Did anyone check out her upper body! Wow! Just that alone compels me to do her workouts! lol I get a great workout working out the whole body with cardio. I like that the cardio leads as I do need it to keep me in shape. I loved the pink tops they were wearing and it's just an overall complete and solid intermediate vid. You can always up the poundage to make it tougher. She is also on the beat throughout this vid. I have other videos by her and she was really off on one of them but just fine on this one. I have been doing this a while and wanted to leave a review that I am quite satisfied with this one. She cues well and has a modifier, great voice and an inspiring body. I like it and will continue with it! Thanks Chris! Please you and Prevention make more vids exactly like this one!! :) - posted by Staci on 11/13/2011
Intermediate?
I would not give this a rating of more than beginner. The moves are basic, working up a sweat takes too long, and with only 8 minutes of core, this is not for the serious exerciser. Three minutes of cardio, then 2 minutes of strength then one minute of core; you're just getting into the zone and it's back to the top of another routine. Way too choppy for this lady! - posted by Suzanne on 7/11/2011
Efective
I like this workout very much. In fact I ordered it twice because my first dvd was damaged (my fault). You can switch the weights to make it more or less strenuous. It's a good circuit workout. I like the instructor also. - posted by Elaine on 6/18/2011
Works all body parts!
I like the fact you sweat after doing the complete workout! You can do the individual clips or the whole video. It does take a while to complete video; however it is worth it when you have the time. The routine is easy to follow and clear to understand. - posted by Sheila on 4/11/2011
Love it
This is a super fun video. Each segment is 3 minutes of cardio, 2 minutes of toning and 1 minute of abdominal work. I really love it. This is my second Prevention video, and I will keep adding Prevention videos to my library. Thanks for a great workout. - posted by Tina on 3/1/2011
Fun! Fun! Fun!
I have been exercising for over 25 years and this was fantastic! I haven't had this much fun in a long while and the 48 minutes just flew by! I smiled while exercising and feel invigorated now! Can't wait to do it again! - posted by Stacey on 2/25/2011
Fast, Fun, and Effective
I really like this workout. Each interval is refreshingly different. The moves are very easy follow and it is so easy to follow Chris Freytag's cues. Her enthusiasm is contagious. I agree with the other reviews in that it may not be super challenging, but you can increase the intensity with heavier weights during the toning sections. I find that each six minute interval goes by very quickly. - posted by Jan on 12/12/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
