Certified instructor description: A straight-forward program with super-basic kickbox moves using three different exercise formats. It’s a fun, totally non-intimidating workout — Chris Freytag’s friendly, “girl next door” attitude is sure to keep you motivated. You’ll start with all-cardio fat-burning — simple jabs, punches, upper-cuts and kicks (fast paced, but never complicated). The next two sections feature kickbox-based aero/tone intervals. The first is mostly aerobic with short ab segments; the second is mostly total-body toning with short aerobic segments. You’ll end with a high-intensity, pure cardio calorie blaster. Easy-to-follow, cue-ahead instruction. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2008. DVD has: Chapter menus, Region 1.

Prevention: Kick Start Your Metabolism with Chris Freytag

Like this workout,but......
I received this workout a couple of weeks ago I really like it, but the reason I gave it 4 stars is you can choose to do just 1 workout instead of having to do the whole thing if your short on time, but if you choose just 1 or 2 that you wanna do there is no separate warm up or cooldown, you have to select "Playall" in order to get those. I like Chris Freytag she's a good instructor, just wish there had of been separate warm up and cooldown. That might not matter to anyone else. - posted by Melissa on 2/10/2012
was bored
I love Chris but this video was very montonous.... - posted by LaTona on 2/10/2012
Great
I love this work out. She does a kick boxing on her extreme workout series, I wish I could get just that one. - posted by Janice on 1/27/2012
Good Instruction - Lower Impact Than Expected
Freytag does a great job of instructing on proper form, and the cues are prompt and clear. I was expecting a bit high level of impact, though, and find myself "stepping it up" in a few sections to get a more intense workout. - posted by Trish on 1/26/2012

Prevention: Kick Start Your Metabolism with Christ Freytag
Chris Freytag is an excellent instructor. I started working out with her on Cable about 6 months ago. I was sadden when they took her out of the lineup. I have since ordered two of her workout DVD's and they are great! - posted by Theresa on 1/26/2012
Really enjoyed this
I had previewed this on the prevention website so I had an idea of it's content. I love Chris's upbeat attitude and smile. She is so cute and dedicated. Her cuing is good and she cheers you on. It's not a difficult routine but effective and all-encompassing. I love the kick boxing to really get those big muscles moving to keep you aerobic without a lot of impact. I'm 65 and do my best to keep up with the 30 yr-olds. I really enjoyed this routine and put it in my rotation for variety. - posted by Nancy on 1/16/2012
Great workout
I bought this dvd 2 weeks ago and I love it! I have done a lot of videos over the years and this is by far my favorite. It burns a lot of calories, makes you sweat, gives your muscles a great workout, and leaves you feeling good about yourself. The best part is you do a lot of squats and lunges, but my knees don't hurt by the end of it. I have had recent knee problems and all of Chris's videos are doable even with reasonably bad knees. She is a great motivator and instructor. I think her kickboxing routines are her best ones. After 2 weeks I can already see slight changes! - posted by Julie on 1/6/2012
Pretty hard
I like this one but it's too hard for me. This is for the young and in shape. I've done kick boxing before but this one is too fast and ambitious for me. I do like the instructor. - posted by Sherry on 1/3/2012
My favorite Chris Freytag workout
I tend to like Chris Freytag workouts and this workout is my favorite of hers. It flows. It is fun. It's engaging. I'm not sure what it is, but this one is a keeper for me. There are three main sections: Fat Blast, Ab Attack, and Body Sculpt. I tend to do the first two sections when I want a fun, shorter cardio workout that gets my heart beating harder. She puts together fun combinations in Fat Blast. Ab Attack is my favorite abs section in any dvd. It is comprised of standing moves and I can really feel my abs when I am done. When I have the time, I add on at least part of Body Sculpt. It's not great for serious strength work, but does give some toning work. It does move faster than I like, but I just keep up the best I can. I tend to me a slower mover. - posted by Laura on 12/27/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
