Certified instructor description: A tough, choreographed workout; it’s filled with explosive propulsion moves. They range from funk dance to basic lunges that never slow down (e.g. “leap, step, hop, hop, hop, V-step…”). Or there’s a tough squat segment — you do four jump squats on one side, leap over the step and do four more. As usual, Gin Miller’s cuing is superb (e.g. “in three more moves we’ll do a jump step…”). The look is MTV/industrial — fun and futuristic with flashing lights, shifting cameras, a live band, even on-screen flames. Driving funky/African drum music. DVD also include a short instrutional segment on safe and effective stepping techniques. ©1993. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Reebok: Power Workout with Gin Miller

xtra edge
I participate in wrestling, cross country and track, and just that in itself will tell you I'm in pretty good shape. But I have to admit, there was a point in this workout where it really started to challenge me. It's a GREAT workout that takes physically active people to a new level. It left me dripping in sweat! - posted by Olive on 1/31/2010
One for the collection
The set for this video IS a little strange...are they in a furnace? Are they in Middle Earth? However, wherever they are, I like this step workout. The moves are not complicated, you can definitely get your heart rate elevated, and the step is a good resistance tool for the lower body. Gin talks to us via voice-over, and I thought that was cool. She's exercising with the group, but uses hand-signals for cues while her voice tells us what to do. I like step videos, and have a few of Cathe Friedrich's--which I find to be a little dreadful due to the complex choreography and the space needed to do the workouts. You don't have to re-arrange your living room to do this workout. I also like that it's not an endless workout (you know the ones that feel like you're in workout hell). - posted by Lisa on 1/15/2010
Working it!
This is my "go to" workout when I need that extra kick in the butt. - posted by Donna on 1/2/2010
fun and effective
I have been religiously working out since 1984 and doing step since day ONE.This workout is a blast and is always a challenge!! Gin is always easy to follow, without sacrificing an ounce of hard work. LOVE her and the video! - posted by cheryl on 12/27/2009
Totally disliked this one
I am being generous with 2 stars only because I usually really like Gin Miller. This workout is strange and off-beat. The warm-up is annoying and the workout is just not fun. Save your money on this one and buy Intense Moves instead. Now THAT'S an effective workout. This one is definitely going back. - posted by Melinda on 2/10/2009
yeah its old
It is old but its fantastic. I have done lots of step work out and I just keep coming back to this one. It's the only one I still have on vhs. the cuing is just superb. The moves, oh my God are just geneous. It's like a toning and step video rolled in one. It's definitely a keeper. Not for the faint of heart or for beginners though. It really is challenging and you just don't tire of it because there is just so much room for growth and power . - posted by Sonia on 10/25/2008
Just weird..
This workout does make me sweat. I think doing slower paced step is more of a workout than the fast paced choreography sometimes. But this is just a weird dvd. - posted by Marsha on 1/14/2008
Butt Kicking, Heart Pounding Fun on a Platform!
This intense total body step workout is clearly one of Gin Miller's best. Yes, it's more than a decade old; however, it kicks butt still! I've been stepping to this video off and on for about five years. I'll shelf it, and then return to it when the pounds add on during vacation season. This is a true calorie-fat burning muscle toning routine that will have you sweating buckets. I like that Gin uses loads of athletic-plyometric moves. She alway advises that you watch her videos at least once so that you know what to expect; that's the sign of a good instructor and true professional. At the end of her videos she always demonstrates difficult moves and she shows modifcations for beginners and for those who may have physical limitations. This video is vintage; but vintage in most instances is priceless and in good taste. As Gin Miller advises, before you attempt to do this step video, you should have proficiency in "The Video," or already be a proficient stepper; this is not a video for the person who has been living a sedentary lifestyle or the beginner. I welcome the cool down and stretch after this workout! 5 stars! - posted by Libby on 5/25/2007
Makes me SWEAT!
I love this workout. I feel like I am really burning some calories when I do it. Now that I've been stepping for a while, I tend to breeze through my other DVD step workouts, but this one makes me sweat! It's a tough workout, but the footwork is not complicated. Yeah, it's a 90s set, but that's not old to me (I was born in the late 60s)! ) Having something different to look at keep things from getting boring and routine. - posted by Carla on 5/18/2007

never get tired of this one
i've been doing this workout for over ten years ... came here to buy a dvd since i finally wore out my vhs! i also do cathe friedrich and other high-intensity workouts and this one is perfect for days when you want an intense, less-than-an-hour workout. i now do the workout while wearing hand weights for a new challenge and that helps keep intensity high. for sure the set and mtv-style are dated, but that's part of the fun since i wore the double-socks and frizzy hair too ... - posted by patsy on 2/27/2007
