Certified instructor description: Two basic, goal-focused yoga workouts filmed in beautiful settings. The AM program "gradually awakens and centers you for the day." The PM segment "clears your mind and soothes your nervous system." Both programs feature fluid sequences of simple, breath-inspired poses ("carefully notice the rhythm of your breathing"). Rodney Yee's AM program begins with gentle stretches and smoothly transitions into energetic progressions. Colleen Saidman's PM workout starts with basic yoga and ends with a guided meditation designed to relax your entire body (gradually moving from your head to your toes). Calm, detailed cuing with fabulous Hawaiian scenery. ©2011. DVD has: Music only option.

Rodney Yee's AM/PM Yoga for Beginners

Soothing but ULTRA beginner
Both exercise routines were soothing and well cued, but so basic that after a couple times I've moved on to more challenging routines. Only good if you want simple stretching. - posted by Carol on 7/21/2012
Love this video!
Rodney Yee was highly recommended to me by a yoga instructor who has used his videos for many years--and she certainly did me a huge favor! I start almost every day with the AM workout. Rodney is easy to follow, his voice is very calming and the routine stretches and wakes up the entire body. The only 'negative' is that the voice over gets a little too ahead of the video and some of the breathing cues are a bit fast for my breath rate. I have only done the PM workout once so won't comment on it at this time. - posted by Dorothy on 5/17/2012
nice when you want a shorter workout
Overall I think this could be a very good video however if you have never done yoga before it would be better in the p.m. section if modifications were shown, specifically with the use of props. Colleen shows off her beautiful form but not all of us can do that right away. - posted by Susan on 5/8/2012
Love it!
This is another super Rodney Yee beginner yoga work out! My husband has much arthritis and we feel it is a good one for him. Colleen's p.m. is a great addition. We have about worn out our original Rodney Yee "A.M" so are thrilled with a new one. It has some variation but some similarities to the old one. Nice and slow, easy to understand. - posted by Debbie on 4/2/2012
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Yoga: Carefully designed poses that emphasize breath, concentration and mental awareness. It also includes the more flowing yoga style – Power Yoga.

Tai Chi: All-standing, very fluid poses (it looks like a person moving in slow-motion). The Chinese called Tai Chi "meditation in motion."

Stretch: Yoga
X
Definition: A flowing series of movements and "poses." Includes yoga and power yoga (a more intense yoga variation). Both types have a strong emphasis on breath, body awareness and mental focus.
