Time graph for RopeSport Jump Rope Workout Kit
Jumping rope is one of the fastest ways to burn fat. This kit includes everything you need to start having fun: a heavy-duty, padded-handle jump rope plus two videos. You’ll begin by adjusting your rope length and learning to maximize effectiveness while avoiding injuries. Then it’s technique instruction, from simple rope-by-your-side moves and two-footed skips to challenging backward jumps and cross-hand exercises. Work out on your own, or do one of the two separate roping workouts — a 13-minute “practice” program or a longer calorie-burner that builds in tempo and complexity (while always letting you drop back to the “base jump” if it gets too intense). Also has 11 minutes of more advanced technique instruction plus 5 minutes of “bonus” ab floorwork by Eric Nies. Energetic class, high-end production, motivating music. ©2003. DVD has: Chapter menus.

RopeSport Jump Rope Workout Kit

Cheap and effective
I am planning on buying the intermediate and advanced RopeSport workouts as well. Eric Nies and Kelly Packard can be a little silly, and sound really scripted like an infomercial, but they do not affect the quality of the workout. And, it says right in the video that if you don't have a lot of space you can do the motions without the actual jumprope and still burn almost as many calories. I am not the most coordinated person in the world, but am catching on fast, and it is a really fun workout! - posted by Stephanie on 7/9/2007
Not for me...
I'm in my early 20s and I find this DVD extremely annoying...so it's not an age thing. Kelly Packard and the shirtless guy are entirely worthless and serve no purpose as they are not experts. However, the workout seems solid and effective if you can get past the obnoxious behavior of those two. - posted by KJH on 6/6/2007

Space
You definately need space to do this video. Not recommended for small rooms. - posted by Susanna on 11/30/2006
Love it
I love this workout even though the other guy the one showing off his abs is kind of obnoxious at times. It is so much fun and makes me so happy for some reason. Must be childhood memories. Great DVD, you will see results for sure. - posted by Sonia on 3/31/2006
It is an awesome workout!
I have the Basic and Intermediate workout. The workouts are both challenging and fun. I have used both a regular jump rope and the weighted rope that comes with the kit, and have to admit that with the weighted jump rope I sweat buckets. It is effective and you will see the results! - posted by Azure on 9/29/2005
I loved this DVD also!
I agree with Holly, I absolutely loved this video too, and I am not 20 something or even 30 something... I didn't notice any where you at's in the video @ all. In fact, I thought it was very thorough in how they explained the jumping techniques and the workout was challenging, but a lot of fun. I love the music and how the jumping is in sync with it. My advice would be to "actually" try the video @ least once, before passing judgment. I highly recommend this video. I am an intermediate to advanced exerciser, and although I haven't jumped rope recently, I was able to start with the intermediate dvd. I just went at my own pace. In approx. 30 minutes, I burned, 300 calories... I will burn more as I am able to jump longer. Try it, you might like it!!!:-)Dee - posted by Dee on 9/26/2005
Great for cardiovascular endurance and muscle coordination
I don't think the previous reviewer should have written a review about a workout that he/she has never tried. I own Rope Sport Basic, Intermediate and Advance DVD workouts and not only are they fun, they are effective! Jump rope is an activity that is often overlooked when a person is looking for a great cardio workout. I use this to cross train with my other cardio workouts such as jogging/running, kickboxing and step aerobics. Rope jumping has fat/caloric burning benefits; it is great for cardiovascular endurance, improves agility, muscle toning, coordination and timing. Since a jump rope is the only equipment needed in addition to the DVD, it is less expensive. You don't need a whole lot of space and it can be tailored to be lower or higher impact. It's convient enough to take with you on vacations/travels. I like the setting and the enthusiasm, that isn't annoying (I personally don't want to do a high energy workout to a boring, quiet setting). You will get a great workout, if you actually do it---I highly recommend trying this! - posted by Holly on 7/10/2005
Spoiled!
I don't own this but I previewed it at a friend's home. It's a fun-looking and challenging workout, but for me it's spoiled by wayyyy too much obnoxious hootin' and hollerin' and "where you at"s. Too bad, but maybe if you're in your 20s you'd like it. - posted by on 7/7/2005
GREAT!
This work out is sooooooo much fun! I felt like a kid again-jumpin up and down! If you want a fun energetic video with fast results... - posted by on 2/9/2005

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
