Certified instructor description: Seven short, fluid stretch segments, each one is designed to improve relaxation and reduce stress. Only three to five minutes long, they’re easy to fit into any busy schedule. You can do the entire series in front of your TV, or just learn them to use when you need to de-stress (e.g. rejuvenate yourself at work with one of the chair routines). You get lying, seated and standing stretches — some target your entire body while others are area-specific (e.g. neck and shoulders, hips and torso). The music is quiet and Michele LeMay’s one-on-one cuing is friendly and supportive. Filmed in a variety of peaceful settings: on a beach, in the desert, etc.). ©2005. DVD has: Chapter menus, Music only option, Region 1.

Seven Essential Stress Relievers

very pleasant
I like the pleasant atmosphere. Very relaxing. - posted by Eileen on 4/30/2010
It didn't do enough for me
The movements seemed really unprofessional to me. It didn't seem like the instructor put much research into the benefits of each movement. I didn't feel like it did enough for me. Besides the bright blue background in parts of it was irritating. The beach setting was nice though. I sent it back. - posted by Cher on 1/29/2010
Very disappointed
My husband and I have not taken Yoga, and we were looking for an easy tape to introduce us to this type of exercise. It was even too easy for us. It jumped from standing to floor and back again without preparation or transition and was almost all about breathing. - posted by Barbara on 2/1/2009
Basics for beginners . . .
This is nice, very basic stretching broken up into short segments. - posted by A on 10/31/2007

I feel so much better!
Michelle has made such a difference in my life! My sister loaned me one of her videos a little over 6 months ago. I started doing the exercises a month later, and have now lost 25 pounds! I feel so much better about myself and my body. - posted by Debra Linette on 11/1/2006
Too basic for me
This video is okay. It's very, very basic stuff for stress relief. If you've NEVER tried to do anything for stress relief, you'll probably like this. It'll show you some useful stretches/breathing techniques that you can use at your desk at home, office or school. I really can't see anyone (even a newbie) popping this in the dvd player a whole lot after you've watched and "mastered" the easy techniques the first few times, or popping it in the dvd player in place of other stretch/relaxation videos. If you're already stretching (athletic and/or yoga/pilates), you won't find anything new and exciting about this workout. Michelle is likeable and the workout is shot in a few different backgrounds (nature scenes are more pleasant than the blue indoor ones). If you can find it for cheap, it might be worth getting. Otherwise, skip it. - posted by Leela on 11/19/2005
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Region 1
X
This DVD is designed for US and Canadian DVD players. It will NOT play in most foreign country players.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Stretch type
X
Athletic: Traditional sports-style, all-physical stretches. It is the least mind-body focused.

Yoga: Carefully designed poses that emphasize breath, concentration and mental awareness. It also includes the more flowing yoga style – Power Yoga.

Tai Chi: All-standing, very fluid poses (it looks like a person moving in slow-motion). The Chinese called Tai Chi "meditation in motion."

Stretch: Athletic
X
Definition: Standard muscle-oriented stretches, the kind usually done by athletes. This is the most "western" style of stretch.

Benefits: Increases flexibility. Restores a healthy mind/body balance. Relaxes and rejuvenates.
