Certified instructor description: Nearly three hours of exceptionally well-taught yoga separated into twelve short segments. This programmable DVD lets you play any section in any order (so you’ll get a customized workout that fits your day’s goal, mood ... and schedule). Each segment focuses on just one type of pose. For example: “Earth” emphasizes grounding poses — the foundation of all the primary vinyasas. “Heart-Air” features twists, lunges and backbends designed to open your body. “Water,” like the name suggests, is a series of fluid, side-to-side poses. Most exercises are intermediate-level, but a few are more advanced (e.g. balancing on your hands). Calm, voice-over cuing and quiet music. ©2010. DVD has: 6 premixes (37 to 51 min. workouts), Music only option, Wide screen.

Shiva Rea's Daily Energy Vinyasa Flow Yoga

not quite me
I thought I would really like this DVD. There are so many options that I could really choose my workouts each time and keep if varied. However, it is really difficult to determine what the workout will focus on by the name. I'm not quite sure how a water workout differs from a fire workout. I also found it difficult to follow all the flowing and sweeping of my head throughout the routines. I've only tried a few of them and couldn't much distinguish the differences. It was also very advanced. I'm on an intermediate level and usually feel comfortable with advanced workouts because I modify. I guess because of all the flowing movements, I couldn't really get the poses and rhythm. I was a bit disappointed but someone else might really like it. It just isn't good for me. - posted by HoneyCarmel on 2/1/2012
I'll be ordering more of hers
I absolutely love it. I am recovering from a broken ankle so I have to modify a few exercises. I have gotten quicker results from this than some that I have bought from the TV infomercials. I would highly recommend this workout. I'll be ordering more yoga, that's how much I love this one. - posted by Leanne on 12/27/2011
Jai Shiva Rea!
She is a master yogi, and I love the preset mixes on this dvd, I've now done them all and I love the challenges she offers, and the way she encourages you to find your own rhythm and movements, it feels SO good! The only problem I have with it is that the cueing lags behind the video, so if you look up to see what she means, it's too late. This will only be an issue the first few times I do it, but still, I wonder why it wasn't corrected. - posted by Liz on 10/20/2011
My favorite Shiva Rea
Like it very much because of the 30 minute sections, and there is a ab workout you can ad with every workout. and there is a very nice total body stretch in 6 minutes which I use very often. - posted by Wen on 8/6/2011
great video
I have been doing yoga for years and love the many different combinations you can do on this one, whether you are looking for energy or relaxation, there is a combo for you. - posted by Kimberley on 7/7/2011
Challenging with great variety
I love the way this video is designed. The matrix lets you mix and match your yoga workout so you can do as much or as little as you like. The actual workouts are great too! She gives challenging variations of familiar poses and includes some advanced balance poses that I had never seen before. The result is a yoga workout that will actually help expand my practice. I will never be bored with this video. As a final note, this video is not for beginners and I recommend that seasoned exercisers watch the workouts before attempting them. - posted by Sheri on 3/27/2011
Make it your own
This DVD has everything you can make it long or short..mix and match it. I love the wonderful flow very calm and relaxing. This is my 2nd DVD from Shiva she's becoming a favorite of mine..keep em coming! - posted by TW on 2/27/2011
Great Yoga
Really good video, nice that you can do a prefix workout or mix and match so you can go with the timeframe you have to work with that day. Just a note that if you're a beginner, it's tough to do her yoga without looking at her, she doesn't verbally cue it well enough to do it without seeing what poses she's actually doing. But I love it and it's very soothing/calming too. - posted by Joanne on 2/7/2011
Great variety
I love all of the options. Allows you to customize your workout. Recommended for intermediate-level yoga practitioners. - posted by Jennifer on 1/28/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Music only option
X
This feature allows you to play only the music, without any cuing (after you’ve learned the movements and you just want to do the workout without listening to the instruction).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Yoga: Carefully designed poses that emphasize breath, concentration and mental awareness. It also includes the more flowing yoga style – Power Yoga.

Tai Chi: All-standing, very fluid poses (it looks like a person moving in slow-motion). The Chinese called Tai Chi "meditation in motion."

Stretch: Yoga
X
Definition: A flowing series of movements and "poses." Includes yoga and power yoga (a more intense yoga variation). Both types have a strong emphasis on breath, body awareness and mental focus.
