Certified instructor description: Nearly three hours of classic yoga formatted in easy-to-schedule, easy-to-do segments. It features fluid, natural movements with quiet, peaceful cuing. The DVD has seven 20 to 25-minute sections (plus a gentle warm-up and meditative cooldown). Three of the sections are begin/inter-level "lunar" poses — calming, cooling and restorative postures (that include lots of relaxing stretches). The four "solar" segments are focused on energizing, activating and stimulating your body. Mostly intermediate level, these also include a few advanced poses (e.g. full backbends, one-legged positions). The DVD lets you program any section to play in any order, so each daily workout can be totally customized. Some "eastern religion/spiritual" commentary. Quiet music. ©2011. DVD has: 6 premixes (47 to 58 min. alternate workouts), Programmable chapters, Wide screen.

Shiva Rea's More Daily Energy

Shiva Rea
I love her style of vinyasa flow Yoga. I have several of her videos and they all have a different flow to them. She is a great instructor...clearly someone who has been teaching for 20 years. I feel energized and relaxed whenever I do any Shiva Rea video. I am a 51 year old female(yikes). I have been teaching group exercise classes since the mid-80's, also a rock climber, bicyclist and backcountry skiier. This video is just what I need to elongate, strenghten and stretch my muscles. - posted by Nancy on 2/16/2012
such a nice yoga workout
I was never a big yoga fan, I'm more hard core cardio, bootcamp, dance and weights, but I needed something to mix in that's different, and tried yoga, this is by far my favorite that I have tried so far I'm almost 40 and still very flexible, but this is such a challenge! Shiva is great she's made me love yoga more and more! - posted by Heather on 2/4/2012
Great selection of workouts that you can pick and combined together.
I love that I can create my favorites to make each day a different workout. I love to finish with the relaxing deep breathing and meditation. I feel this video is well worth the money. Great instructor! - posted by Susanne on 1/20/2012
Shiva Rea More Daily Energy
This DVD is the best of both worlds. I was really stressed out yesterday so I did the lunar portion of the DVD. It's a good workout, but more calming. The Solar portion is awesome because you are really working on arm balance poses and I love arm balance poses, and she covers most of them!!! Didn't think she could top her last DVD, but she did! Love it!!! - posted by Robin on 12/22/2011
Great Video!!
I love Shiva Rea and have almost all of her videos. I enjoy this one a lot. Love everything about her! The moves are very fluid--not a lot of stagnant pose-holding. She makes me very calm and really gets me focused. I am not the greatest at yoga, but her style really appeals to me. She gives many variations on a pose--for example-she is able to do what appears to me to be very challenging poses and looks so cool! I am nowhere near that level, yet I am able to really get the most out of the tape. I believe that this goes from fairly beginner level to advanced--those yoginis who can stand on one hand while balancing her entire body on it!! I think you will really like this video and Shiva!!! - posted by Jen on 11/30/2011
Great Intermediate Yoga Instruction
I found a great yoga instructor in Shiva. I've been doing yoga for twenty years and found Shiva's style very refreshing. This is not power yoga, where one is pushing oneself with a competitive drive. Rather, here is an instructor showing how to sense your own ability as you move into yoga postures. It is low-key yet intense. Another plus is the pre-set sequences (7), so one is provided with seven different sequences, each 50"-60". This is what yoga should be. - posted by Judy on 11/30/2011
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Programmable chapters
X
At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Stretch type

Yoga: Carefully designed poses that emphasize breath, concentration and mental awareness. It also includes the more flowing yoga style – Power Yoga.

Tai Chi: All-standing, very fluid poses (it looks like a person moving in slow-motion). The Chinese called Tai Chi "meditation in motion."

Stretch: Yoga
X
Definition: A flowing series of movements and "poses." Includes yoga and power yoga (a more intense yoga variation). Both types have a strong emphasis on breath, body awareness and mental focus.
