Shiva Rea's Power Flow Yoga

Great Yoga Workout
I am definitely a "beginner" when it comes to yoga and there were parts of this dvd that are in the "no way" zone for me, however much of it I could do or make a slight modification. Enjoyed the different scenes and hope to improve my yoga ability with this dvd. Shiva talks you through the poses very well, which is necessary when you can't see the television. - posted by Jennifer on 2/9/2012
SHIVA RAE
Completed first pre set Fluidity - terrible as far as a yoga workout. Used the matrix and was able to put together a good yoga workout but moves are very advanced. - posted by EILEEN on 4/28/2011
Not your every day yoga DVD
I really like this workout because it is so different from other yoga DVDs that I have purchased in the past. I was looking for something different from the usual yoga workout that focuses on a bunch of sun salutations. The workouts that shiva does are different from most any yoga class I have been to. It is quite difficult and i wouldn't purchase this dvd if you are a beginner. The scenery is awesome and the yoga matrix definitely gives you a lot of variety. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a challenge and something different. - posted by Rachel on 3/27/2011
Good variety
I like the variations and the fact you can create your own type and length of workout. She shows the easier pose then does the advanced pose, so you have something to work towards. Three segments are faster and harder for me...I prefer the slower segments because I am beginner/intermediate. The scenery is wonderful and so is her calming voice. - posted by M on 3/12/2011
SUPER Yoga Flow- customize your practice & workout
wonderful combo of the best of Shiva Rea- very customizable (is that a word?) you know what I mean. You can choose an area of emphasis to work on by combining the dvd selections as needed. This dvd includes pieces of all her previous dvd's so you are really getting your monies worth! Shiva is a clear and gentle teacher always giving you options or modifications in your practice. I enjoyed doing the programs I do not already own & mixing them up with ones I had already done. Namaste! - posted by nita on 2/17/2011
challenge yourself, joyously
Definitely not for the beginner but not so advanced that you are turned away either. Shiva Rea is a beautiful soul that encourages you to challenge yourself without being in your face or pushy about it. It is rather like she wants to unlock your flexibility and your joyful spirit. There is never any shame for not getting perfection of the poses and she does show some modifications for most if not all. The matrix at the beginning is the best thing ever conceived. - posted by amie on 2/10/2011
Shiva Rea's Power Flow Yoga
Even though I have not completed all the sequences yet, I enjoy doing the ones I have completed. I just love Shiva Rea. She is unlike any other yoga teacher; she is completely natural and down to earth and her teaching style is very compatible and comfortable for me. It might take me a very long time to do a handstand against the wall by myself and it may be the next lifetime before I can do one without the wall but I do like attempting the poses. My head and body always feel so refreshed and limbered up after a 50 minute workout. I enjoy her beautifully creative settings. Her teaching is an inspiration to me to do yoga at least a few times per week. - posted by Barbara on 2/10/2011
Tough!
I love yoga and have many different dvd's and instructors in my collection. This one is good... a little hard to follow at times but overall an amazing collection of great moves. I would recommend it if nothing else just for the great variety on one dvd. - posted by Shawna on 1/31/2011
Too hard
I am disappointed that the moves are so difficult. I like her style but really it is so hard I am discouraged. It didn't look that hard in the sample clips I saw. - posted by Carol on 1/21/2011
AWESOME YOGA
I love this workout. You can pick and choose what segments you want and change it up every time you work out. She is an amazing instuctor too. - posted by DD on 1/20/2011
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Stretch type
X
Athletic: Traditional sports-style, all-physical stretches. It is the least mind-body focused.

Yoga: Carefully designed poses that emphasize breath, concentration and mental awareness. It also includes the more flowing yoga style – Power Yoga.

Tai Chi: All-standing, very fluid poses (it looks like a person moving in slow-motion). The Chinese called Tai Chi "meditation in motion."

Stretch: Yoga
X
Definition: A flowing series of movements and "poses." Includes yoga and power yoga (a more intense yoga variation). Both types have a strong emphasis on breath, body awareness and mental focus.

Benefits: Increases flexibility. Restores a healthy mind/body balance. Relaxes and rejuvenates.
