Time graph for Slim Sculpt with Ellen Barrett
A balanced program that gracefully blends Pilates techniques and weight-room style toning. It’s an effective format that stretches and lengthens your body as it shapes and tones each muscle. Classic gym-style exercises are “softened” with more fluid transitions and a greater range of motion. For example, instead of a standard start-then-stop lunge, you’ll lean into the lunge and then gently pull back (so the muscle stretches on the “lean in” and strengthens on the “pull back”). Upper-body moves have a similar feel (e.g. large, diagonal motions like a Pilates “pulley arms” routine). The floorwork features mostly classic Pilates core exercises. Ellen’s cuing is clear and refined. Requires 2 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2007.

Slim Sculpt with Ellen Barrett

Wonderful and Creative
I thought this was a wonderful, unique, creative workout. I really feel it in my waist and arms/shoulders. The Fat Burning Fusion has more leg work, so its a nice companion to this DVD. It is refreshing and different from most workouts and yet you feel its effects. Lovely job by Ellen. - posted by Shelley on 4/14/2008
Mostly arm work, very little lower body / legs
I was a disapointed in this dvd. The first three sections worked mainly the arms non-stop, and only last section "matwork" had any leg work at all. - posted by Michelle on 3/26/2008
WOW!!! Ellen does it again.............
I absolutely LOVE Fat Burning Fusion and SlimSculpt is the PERFECT companion. What an awesome workout! The addition of the light weights makes all the difference in the world as this will definitely sculpt your waist and arms slim,no doubt about it. Like all of Ellen's workouts, this is not mindless exercise,it requires focus and concentration to get the most out of it. Ellen is a brilliant, delightful instructor and a pleasure to work out with. I HIGHLY recommend getting all three workouts in this series as they are designed to complement one another. EXCELLENT job,as usual,Ellen! - posted by Judy on 3/26/2008
Love this workout!
I love all of Ellen Barrett's workouts that I've done, she is a great instructor. This workout was great, I used 3 lb. weights when doing it and had to put them down a few times just like some of the other reviewers had said. I can definitely feel where it worked my waist and upper body! - posted by Brittney on 3/17/2008
Another great one by Ellen!
Stretching and sculpting--loved it. The only issue I see is beginners flailing the weights, or people flailing weights because they're using heavier weights than they should. Otherwise, this is a great add-on to Ellen's other wonderful workouts. Ellen is a positive, calming instructor with excellent cuing, poise and fluidity. I love how she emphasizes the female physique with proper posture, form and techniques. - posted by Anita on 3/13/2008
Buff girl and buff arms
A long-time fan of Ellen, I gained new respect for her after this workout. It is an EXCELLENT upper body workout - I had to put the 3-lb. weights down after 10 minutes the first time I did it! After that humbling experience, I'm proud to say that I can do the whole thing with weights now - and I definitely feel the burn every time! This workout makes me feel stronger AND stretched after I'm done... which is exactly what Ellen promises at the beginning. If you want to buff up your upper body and shoulders, get this workout! (and any of Ellen's other DVDs!) - posted by Kimberly on 2/22/2008
Another great one from Ellen
I just completed this workout for the first time and love it! I'm an inter/advan exerciser, but not terribly coordinated. I don't like workouts that have complex footwork and have me bouncing all over the room. Slim Sculpt is the kind of workout for me: fluid and graceful, but still raises the heartrate. I agree with the other posts about having to rest my arms a couple of times, even with only using 3lb weights. The mat work is also effective. Ellen is calm and encouraging; I have Fat Burning Fusion also and love it. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! More, Ellen, more! - posted by Johnna on 2/22/2008
EXCELLENT FEEL GOOD WORKOUT!!!!
I loved this workout. The first time I did it I didn't feel DOMS in my arms and didn't know what to think of the workout. But the second time around I totally felt my upper body work. This is a FEEL GOOD WORKOUT!!! I like that it is done barefoot. This workout flows really well no dread factor. Ellen as always cues well. The music is very relaxing and appropriate. This is a light cardio and light weight workout. You will feel the heat in your body and a light sweat. This is an excellent companion to Ellens Fat Burning Fusion which I love, love, love. This workout is a keeper!!! - posted by NA/AWA on 2/22/2008
Execellent Workout!
I did this for the first time today and absolutely love it! I used 3 lb weights and had to drop them a few times to rest my arms. Even though the emphasis is more on the upper extremities, I still feel that I got a decent workout for my legs. And I think the abs workout was pretty challenging. I love that you don't need shoes, and I find Ellen to be a very pleasant instructor. This workout, as well as Fat Burning Fusion will find a regular spot in my rotation! - posted by Melanie on 2/16/2008
Tough and Good
This is another great workout from Ellen. The upper body work is definitely tough but you can really feel and see the benefits. The stretching is great as well. There is a smooth transition between each exercise and the moves are not difficult at all. I absolutely enjoy this workout. - posted by Saundra on 2/16/2008
