Certified instructor description: Well-taught Pilates movements carefully selected and/or modified to benefit from the Bosu’s unique design. Whether it’s the improved dome-side-up back support or the improved dome-side-down sense of balance, Pilates and the Bosu are the perfect match (classic Pilates with an definite increase in control, stability and neuromuscular challenge). It all feels like a private lesson with Moira Merrithew — she coaches, motivates and points out technique while Beth Evans does the exercises. It ends with eight minutes of standing sports-oriented routines that blend Pilates concepts with plyometrics and step toning. ©2002. DVD has: Programmable chapters.

Stott Pilates: Essential Bosu

Very difficult to follow
While I liked the two other videos I ordered (both for foam rollers) I found this BOSU workout very difficult to follow. I am a very active 50 year-old who works out everyday using a spinning machine, treadmill and weights in addition to road biking and kayaking. The instructor is very knowledgeable but unless you are very familiar with Pilates moves you will be lost. Each instruction she gives is really more of a "group" of instructions all at once. So, if you are trying to learn the move itself, it is difficult to follow the other 8-10 instructions she offers simultaneously. I ended up ordering another instructional DVD for the BOSU and found it easy to follow thus making me feel successful from the start. Granted, these are two entirely different workouts and it could be that I just didn't have enough of a Palates background to make this work for me. I did try the DVD several times but ultimately found that I was doing the moves incorrectly because I truly could not follow what she was saying. Too much at once. - posted by Maureen on 11/17/2011
I Like It
Whilst this is not a high intensity workout my friend and I use this DVD as a cool down and good stretch after we have had a good workout. We find the cueing to be very good by incorporating Stott Pilates with our higher intensity workouts we are gaining good core strength and flexibility enabling better control of higher intensity workouts and keeping injury at bay. Very important when you are getting a little older. After all who wants to flog themselves all the time and be pumped up all the time. We all need time to chill also. - posted by Kimberley on 11/26/2009
Very Boring
The instructor was very boring, the DVD was very boring. I will never purchase another Scott Pilates DVD again. It is a total rip-off!! Way too expensive! I really wanted a workout for my Bosu and since I enjoy Pilates I thought this would be great, but it is way too boring! Don't waste your money! - posted by Jennifer on 9/3/2008
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Programmable chapters

At the beginning of your workout, you can select the exact segments you want to play that day. The DVD will then play all those segments in the order you chose.
