Strength & Core Fusion |
One of My Best 2008 Purchases! |
| I so highly recommend this workout I want to shout it off rooftops. I can't believe it was 68 minutes -- it flew by. I had sweat droplets coming off me about 10 minutes in -- and by the time the bandwork on the step started, there were mini puddles beneath me. Of course I was cocky and got out my 8" step and 10lb dumbbells. Whoa Nelly -- got rid of those pretty quick! My core felt engaged the whole time, the workout was sequenced perfectly, Angie Miller is extremely competent, what can I say -- get this workout. My HR was in FB zone about 70% of the time in addition to sculpting every muscle, and definitely fatiguing glutes, hams and biceps. Could have used more shoulder work and a more varied stretch, but on the whole this workout is about as near-perfect as a functional fitness compound-muscle and core sculpt workout can get. It is similar in theme to Ripped to the Core, but different enough to be a welcome addition to my rotations. Yeah, yeah Angie talks a lot. I found it motivating though, and it got me through some of the tougher parts. I will buy whatever future workouts this lady comes out with. Way to go Angie. Keep 'em coming! - posted by Sam on 5/11/2008 |

    GREAT BAND WORK! |
| Angie Miller is another new instructor I recently discovered. Initially, I thought I couldn't tolerate her monotone voice, but as the workout progressed, it got better. She seems like she knows her stuff. This one works you hard and has some great unique functional fitness moves that are excellent for working on balance. The step I just used as a prop, since my knees are bothered by stepping and it worked fine. The band work, IMO, is the best thing about this workout. Lots of new, fresh moves which I'm feeling a few hours later! This workout includes some good plank work and supermans. The only thing I didn't care for is the final stretch--I found it uncomfortable holding the leg poses for one whole minute in the designated position. I will be modifying that move by just doing a "v" stretch with outstretched legs. I also felt the upper body was not stretched out enough, so I'll either be modifying the final stretch, or else adding my own. But, all around, a good, effective workout! - posted by MRS on 5/5/2008 |

    Great Workout |
| I really liked this workout. Many have complained that the instructor is to chatty. I don't find her chatty (she is telling you what to do and how many more to go) I just think she has this annoying tone to her voice and that is what bothers me and probably others. I can pretty much tune her out as I can with most instructors in my exercise videos. I am an advanced exerciser and I use Cathe alot. I really got a good workout from this DVD. The instructor used a lot of different moves to workout different muscles. It went by fast and I enjoyed all the exercises. I use this when I don't have time to do aerobics and weights and want to get a good one hour workout which you do with this DVD. I hope she will make another one that is just as good. All in all this is worth the money and I think most advanced exercisers will like this DVD. - posted by Elly on 4/26/2008 |

    Creative,fun and challeging workout........ |
| and I love it! Not your same old strength training program, this one offers a much needed fresh approach to fitness. Don't let Angie's pretty face fool you,she is one tough lady and this is a challeging, but very doable, workout. She is truly a professional, her cuing is excellent with constant emphasis on proper form. To address her "chattiness" issue, yes, she does talk constantly and this could be very annoying for some people. It didn't bother me but even if it did this workout is so wonderful I would find a way to tune her out. This workout offers alot for the price, you truly get your moneys worth and ,done consistantly,a lean, sculpted, trim body in the process. I hope people will see past Angie's chattiness and appreciate this workout and all it has to offer. Great job,Angie! PLEASE don't let this one be your last!! - posted by Judy on 4/26/2008 |

    shut up already!! |
| This is an excellent workout but I dropped a star because goodness, she does not shut up!! I can deal with a talky instructor, but the really annoying aspect of the talking is that EVERYTHING she says she raises her voice at the end, like she was asking a question. This speach cadence can drive you batty!! I'm keeping this dvd, but time will tell whether or not I finally toss it due to the above. - posted by laurie on 4/24/2008 |

    Amending my comment! |
| I wanted to amend my statement about Angie being too chatty. Today I was not motivated to work out in the least. I decided a good kick may help so I put on Angie's DVD. Her chatter actually helped motivate me to continue, and like another poster said, I was too busy sweating to be annoyed! So if you're hesitating to buy this DVD due to the chat factor, it is easy to get used to and can be beneficial. I really do LOVE this workout! - posted by Anita on 4/16/2008 |

    A STAR IS BORN |
| This is a Take no "prisoner workout" it's challenging, From the very beginning with the warm up Angie will get your heart rate up. First with weights (5 to 10 lbs) then with tubing. Angie, doesn't stop she just keeps pushing forward so you're going to sweat. Angie's cuing is right on point! you'll work every body part, even your calves! I previewed this workout first before I did it, it didn't look that hard, boy was I wrong (I'm an advance exerciser, working out 4 to 6 days a week) and as another review said "I was sucking air". Time goes by fast, and it's fun to. Some other reviewers say she's chatty, I was working so hard I hardy notice that! This is a really awesome workout, Get it!!!! - posted by Beeah on 4/15/2008 |

    Harder than I expected -- GREAT! |
| Just got home from vacation and thought this would be a good workout to get me ready for my advanced work at the gym plus Cathe/Jari/BOSU Pro, etc. at home (I'm 46, an advanced exerciser, and a certified personal trainer). I dove in not expecting too terribly much and the next thing I knew I was sucking air. :) Thinking this would be more intermediate I set myself up with 3 risers on each side and 8-lb. weights. My HR was way up -- ah, those combination moves. I wish I'd used my HR monitor because I know I burned a lot of calories -- yay! Angie's cuing is solid and I like her. I plan to use this once a week as a total body/functional add-on after I hit each body part with heavy weights earlier in the week. Give this one a try. :) - posted by Marla on 3/30/2008 |

Loved it, though a bit too chatty |
| I really, really enjoyed this workout. It was challenging and I worked up a good sweat. The moves were unique and there was no boredom or dread for me. The instructor cued beautifully, but I did find she talked a tad too much for my tastes. Also her tone was a bit like a preschool teacher -- slightly fake and forced. But none of those drawbacks was major and they won't keep me from doing this DVD often. It is a winner. I recommend this. - posted by Cynthia on 3/23/2008 |

    Tough Workout |
| Angie looks like a sweet lady, but she really has a tough workout here! It uses compound moves, always building up to them, and some functional fitness moves as well. She also incorporates some balance challenges, which I love. There is a modifier shown for the moves, and she also does not use the step. You do need the dumbbells, and a resistance tubing with the handles. I think it would be too difficult to do this with just a band instead of tubing. She really got my heartrate up, especially during the first 30-40 min. This one will work everything. It was tougher than I expected from the clip! - posted by Terri on 3/12/2008 |
