Certified instructor description: A no-fluff, total-body-toner that uses resistance tubing to maximize results. These proven-effective, weight-room-style exercises just utilize the tubing instead of traditional dumbbells. It’s led by Tom Stroup, a real SWAT team commander. His instruction is friendly and informative — he explains the routine, describes why it’s important and shows which muscles you’re shaping. Tom works each muscle group in a varied, well-planned progression as he quickly moves from one set to the next (using on-screen notices to prepare you for the next series). It ends with classic ab floorwork. Features an energizing, SWAT-style set (e.g. police trucks and barricades). Note: DVD comes with a resistance band (but everyone in the workout uses an X-ertube). ©2008. DVD has: Wide screen.

intermediate!
I definitely felt that, using a medium strength xertube, this is an intermediate workout! I like that it hits all exercise groups in a short amount of time, and boredom is prevented by interspersing pushup & mountain climber segments. As in their other workouts, Captain Tom and the girls are pleasant to workout with. Nifty abs section too! - posted by Susan W. on 1/28/2012
Great toning workout!
I bought this DVD because I received resistance tubing with handles for Christmas, but didn't have a resistance tubing workout. The DVD comes with a band. I thought the workout was a bit on the easy side but then I felt the affects the next day! There is very little cardio except for Mountain Climbers, but it is supposed to be a toning workout. You can probably skip the warm up because the workout itself has a warm up. The first warm up is more instructional. The ab workout consists of mostly crunches so if you hate crunches, skip that section as well. I enjoyed using the tubing rather than weights for a change. I didn't think it would challenge my muscles as much as weights do, but I found out I was wrong! - posted by Chris on 2/17/2011
just OK . . .
I didn't really like this workout and didn't keep it. I think it would be OK for a travel workout (although I like Cathe's Travel Fit a lot better). It would also be OK for someone just starting with bands or for a man looking for an easier workout with a male instructor and a more "manly" atmosphere. To me it was kind of boring, slow moving, and too easy. Also, the band is only used for about half of the workout, and the non-band work (like the abs) is just the same old stuff. - posted by Barbara on 7/6/2010
Best travel video!!
I travel for a living and space is limited in many of the places I stay. This video is great!! The bands pack easily and it doesn't require much space at all. Which I LOVE! The instructor is easy on the ears and I feel it is a challenging workout. I only wish I could find a cardio video that that didn't use up a lot of space and I would be set! I have a drawer full of work out videos and this is my favorite!! I even use it when I am home where I have more space simply because I like it so much. If you travel or are going to this is the video you NEED! - posted by Betsy on 6/11/2009
I like it!!!!
I really enjoyed this workout. I disagree though, I don't think it is for beginners whatsoever - I think it's more for intermediate exercisers. I used dumbbells for this workout and really liked it. It got my heart rate up on the mountain climbers (whoa, those are tough) and it made my arms shake afterwards. I even had to use lighter dumbbells to do this workout. All in all, I liked Commander Tom's cueing and attention to form. This is a keeper! - posted by Christine on 3/4/2009
Good workout!
Some different resistance cord exercises that I've never done before are included in this workout. The resistance cord section is around 1/2 hour of the dvd. This is a good workout to take on a trip. The only thing is that Tom is very chatty through the workout, but you can just turn off the volume! - posted by Barbara on 1/19/2009
A decent workout!
I am an intermediate/almost advanced exerciser. This dvd is by no means a beginner/intermediate workout. The band really works your muscles hard. It's a nice change of pace from very aerobic type of workouts. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the band that is included is too short. It is only 4 feet. Some of the overhead presses with the band would be impossible with a 4 foot band. You would need a 6 foot band. Also, the crew uses the bands with the handles and this is not included with the dvd either. I'm glad I bought this dvd to add to my rotation. It is a nice change of pace. I especially felt it in my back and triceps the next day. - posted by Ann on 1/5/2009
Good
Really nice band workout. If you've done barry's bootcamp workouts you will love this. Alot like it and if you liked Tom's other toning weight workout, you will like this also because, it's basically the same thing just that in this video you use the band instead of weights. Which is good for a different type of workout and muscle confusion. - posted by Laci on 12/8/2008
Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
