Tae Bo Amped Basic (with Amplifier Bar) |
    Not so great... |
| When I saw this package, I thought I was gonna be completely satisfied. The amplifier is annoying! Like everyone else said, it does not stay in place, so you can't do the moves without having to stop and fix it. I'm not sure how Billy's amplifier (along with the whole crew) stays in place so nicely?!?!? The first 3 videos have the same moves just in different order and different number of sets. The core express was ok because it really does work your abs, and the live in LA was the only one I ended up enjoying. (only because it incorporates upper/lower body strength training with the amplifier). - posted by RocioLulu on 7/14/2008 |

    Great Workout |
| I started tae boe with this DVD set. I definately wasn't advanced but I have been working with the DVD set for almost 6months. I can definately see the difference in my body. I haven't lost significant weight but I've lost inches. The workout will definately kick your butt. I will admit, the people working out with Billy like "Shelly" and the other chick are really annoying. But otherwise, it's a great way to get a work out. Doing this is better than doing nothing. So, if you're considering buying it, do it. If you do it at least 3x a week you WILL see results and you can do it at home. As for the bar, it will stay in place if you lock it correctly. I had issues with it at first until I watched him lock his into position. If you continue to have issues with the bar, just switch to your own 1-2lb hand weights. The effect will be the same. Also, disk #2 is the best for abs of the workout DVDs. - posted by Susana on 6/3/2008 |

    "Not that Amped" |
| I consider myself to be at the advanced work out level. I am a huge Billy Blanks fan and have alot of his videos. Like many of the other reviewers, I was really looking forward to working out with this new set of videos. Unfortunately, the Tae Bo "Amped" series does not live up to its name. The bar does not stay in the locked position, so when you are doing the moves "amped-up", it twists and collapses and you are so busy trying to fix it that you miss the sets, and get cheated out of the workout. And speaking of the "amped-up" portions of the videos, some of the moves he does are not meant to be performed at that speed...the human body was not designed to twist at warp speed (without pulling something!). You are so focused on trying to do the moves super fast, that you totally lose your form. I will admit your upper body (arms and back) do get a bit of burn, but the rest of the body does not really benefit from these videos; I hardly broke a sweat. Even if you are a Tae Bo fan, you may want to save your money and skip over this one... - posted by Michelle on 5/27/2008 |

    Annoying |
| I was so looking forward to adding this to my routine and was very disappointed. I agree with what a lot has been said already; inconsistant routines - works one side harder then the other. The CD's just mix up the same moves and yes the focus is mainly on upper body and core. Which would have been ok if it was worthwhile. I also found him extremely annoying with his so called inspiration talks during, and the worst, at the end. I found myself just screaming SHUT UP! He spends a lot of time just talking btwn routines. Annoying! The amp bar does not stay locked, and when he amps up his routines, the focus on moving correctly is lost. I'm pretty advanced with this stuff and don't think his stuff was that hard to follow, but the inconsistencies, the non stop chatter and the lack of routines make this one a waste of money. - posted by Leslie on 5/6/2008 |

    Great for advanced beginner |
| I say advanced beginner because I have the Boot Camp DVDs. Those killed me. I think I did the *easiest* of the pack first and I haven't tried again since. I have other Billy Blank DVDs that were just fine. I'm the kind of person who exercises sporadically when I'm in an "I've got to get in shape for this event," kind of mood. I found this amped workout enough of a challenge to keep me interested, but not so tough I dare not try it again. I'm 38 a mom of two boys and I'm not trying to get a six-pack. I just want to be more fit. - posted by Shari on 3/5/2008 |

    One of Billy's Best |
| I have been doing Taebo for about 2 years and have many of Billy's dvds, I do love all of them, but this by far is my favorite!! I have noticed definition in my arms and abs that I never have had before!! It is an awesome core workout and has helped me build strength in my upper body. I have to lift large boxes of reports and paper at work (50 lbs) and I have no problem or pain. I am 59 years young and I say that everyone should try these workouts!! They are great and I have been working out for a long time and have tried many. Billy is the best!! - posted by Millie on 2/25/2008 |

    What is this |
| I was so excited to get Amped with Billy Banks only to learn that every cd was the same as the first. Five cds of pure upper body toning! Same movements, same CD disk set. Also, I noticed a tremondous amount of inconsistency with the movements. He will work on one side of the body and forget the second side! Ugh.. What a disappointment. All in all, it is my fault for not gathering research. I just wish that when buying a CD set, that I would get a full body workout instead of complete upper body. My arms are tired after the 2nd CD and dislike proceeding forward. - posted by Kelly on 2/9/2008 |

    Behind the bar |
| I was not happy with the bar. It broke after the first few times of use. It would not stay locked out so you had to hold it out. I did like the extra weight it gave for the punches. I will still use it. - posted by Angie on 2/7/2008 |

    A Joke! |
| This was very disappointing - there is no way this should be classified as inter/advance - it is way to easy. Billy loves to say "watch me" - maybe if we didn't have to watch him so much it might be challenging - the only challenging part is that the repetitions are so fast that you can't really have good form. I agree with the other reviewer in that the bar tends to come apart - also when you use it to punch you really can't follow proper boxing technique. I have done a lot of different kickbox workouts and this is at the bottom. Might be ok if you are just starting. Very disappointing in the form department. Surpriesed is a "staff favourite" - posted by Gina on 2/4/2008 |

    Fantastic |
| This is a FANTASTIC workout!!! The amplifier bar really brings up the intensity with strength training! I have not experienced all the issues with the amp bar as in the previous comments. You can't grip the bar really tight. The bar is meant to hold with a medium grip (not to tight, not to loose). I too felt the back pain, however, its a good sore. This video really builds back muscles. I noticed how much stronger my back is and toned. A strong back is needed along with great abs for a good core. - posted by Jesse on 2/3/2008 |
