Certified instructor description: An easy-to-follow fat-burner that progressively builds in intensity. It’s a clever format that lets you advance at your own pace. The first 15-minute “mile” introduces the three steps you’ll use throughout the workout (a base walk, a V-step and a three-count march). The second mile maintains the same foot movements while boosting the intensity with varied arm motions. The last mile maximizes the effectiveness with a series of basic dumbbell exercises (that also add upper-body toning). Tamilee’s cuing is straight-forward and friendly, never overly “chatty.” 1 to 2 lb. dumbbells are optional. ©2009. DVD has: 2 premixes (21 & 35 min. alternate workouts), Chapter menus, Wide screen.

Chatty Tamilee
I like Tamilee but sometimes I wish she had a mute button. Chatty aside this is a good workout for those days you want a simple leisure workout. The cueing is terrible so you'll have to watch the video a few times through to actually know where you go next but I was looking for a walking video that gave me a break from Leslie every once in a while and it serves that purpose. If you are looking for a weightloss walking video you probably want to skip this as a purchase. - posted by Herbie on 1/25/2012
Extremely Boring and Awkward
I normally don't return exercise videos, but this is one I will return. I would rate this as a beginning video only. I found it to be very boring. There was no variety on the footwork, the same footwork is used on all three miles. Each mile did differ in the arm movements, but I found them to be overly complicated for a walking video. The arm movements were extremely awkward and did not co-ordinate well with the foot movements. I know it is hard to make a walking video fun and upbeat, but this one did not flow well for me and I couldn't wait for it to be over. - posted by Linda on 4/9/2011
walking with Tammilee is fun
Sometimes walking programs are a little bit boring, but this program isn't. It provides enough variety to keep the mind engaged and not wandering off to what to cook for dinner. It provides balanced movements which are fun. - posted by Helen on 2/26/2011
Great
Being a 55 year old woman and not having worked out in a while. I really like the way you can start out with 1 mile and gradually work up to the 3 mile level. It is easy to follow and a great way to start the day. - posted by Doretha on 2/3/2011
makes you think
This is the first time I have purchased a video by Tamilee. I enjoyed this workout because it makes you think due to the variations in the arms and legs. It gives you a good workout in a very gentle way. - posted by Daryl on 1/29/2011
Did not enjoy this
The workout was not fun at all to do. I just wanted to walk, not learn steps. Way too complicated to follow and the arm patterns were confusing....Too bad, I was looking forward to a great walking workout from a great instructor. - posted by Shirley on 12/17/2010
Awful!
I really like Tamilee and have many of her workouts BUT this walk is really disorganized, hard to follow, way too complicated for a walk. KEEP IT SIMPLE TAMILEE! I couldn't follow it and did not like the other girls with her. Tamilee, please don't give up on walking DVDs, just do a power walk with fast pace and no complications or patterns. Good Walking Workout
Personally, I think this workout was pretty good. With my arthritis getting worse, I am having to stop doing any impact or step so have switched to more walking. Most walking dvds (without alot of interval training/jogging)just don't do anything for me. This one, I actually had to work at it. Yes, you have to think about it and is a little crazy when first starting the moves, but think you get alot better workout than just the "4" main steps with mindless chatter. I felt sweaty and actually felt like a had done more than just walking when the workout was overwith. This was my first Webb dvd and thought she was pretty good. - posted by MLT on 11/30/2010
Did not like.
I have done other dvd's by Tamilee Webb. I have enjoyed doing them but not her walking dvd. The steps were too much. - posted by Susan Corrigan on 11/29/2010
Not Tamilee's best walking workout
Whether or not it's advertised as such, an earlier Tamilee workout, Defy Gravity, is essentially a walking workout, taped outdoors in beautiful Hawaii. I think it's a bit more challenging and overall more interesting than this attempt, which comes across as dull, even though Tamilee is as charming and likable as ever. - posted by Claire on 9/19/2010

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.
sample time graph
Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes
X
These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Wide screen
X
The program fully fills a wide-screen television screen. Note: These videos will display black bars at the top and bottom on a traditional 4 x 3 ratio TV screen.
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
