Has three upper body/abs programs in addition to the three lower-body workouts (so it's more
than just "butt toning"). The three workout "sets" build in intensity — you'll start with the introductory series and advance to the more challenging pair. The moves are mostly straight-forward classics, from squats, leg lifts and lunges to push-ups, dumbbell rows and abdominal crunches. While many exercises are repeated throughout the levels, you also get tougher variations in the later sets (e.g. one-legged squats or narrow-hand-position push-ups). Pauline Nordin is not your standard instructor. Her cuing is minimal and her chatty commentary is "bad ass" motivational ("Nobody loves this move. Why? Because it hurts!"). Requires 3 to 5 lb. dumbbells; a body bar is also used in one inter/advan workout. ©2011.

The Butt Bible
I am a pretty fit person and do a lot of videos. I really like this set of videos. I found the first lower body workout to be a little too easy, but level 2 is keeping me busy for right now. The videos run from 20-40 minutes, which is nice so that you can just do a quick one if you're limited on time. I didn't find her comments annoying, in fact they were pretty right on and sometimes just humorous. I would recommend this set for both the workout and the great price. - posted by Kathy on 1/19/2012
effective and doable
I saw results very quickly. The exercises are straightforward and don't require too much equipment. The instructor grows on you. - posted by Anne on 1/8/2012
I LOVE the Butt Bible
The first time I did the Butt Bible I loved it. I think that Pauline is so funny and everything that she says is true. I have done this workout several times and I still laugh at her comments. There are no fancy moves in this workout just the tried and true. If you want to feel sore and like you had a great total body workout this is for you. I do the upper body first and then the lower body. It takes about an hour but you feel great after you are done. - posted by Suzi on 12/30/2011
I love this dvd. I started showing results quickly. - posted by Michelle on 12/25/2011
I previewed the first workout, so I could have a feel for it prior to doing it. The exercises were awesome, but immediately I got turned off by the instructor's constant talking. I found that too distracting, because when I use exercise DVD's, I intend to be very focused. I put it in the my giveaway pile. - posted by Anna on 12/18/2011
You might not like her humor, but this workout works!!
I love this work out and Pauline's humor. If you let her talking stop you from doing this workout then that will be a mistake. Mute it and keep doing the workout because it is worth it. If you are not feeling it work harder. Yes these are some of the same exercises other instructors have done, but other instructors do not do enough reps. You will feel the burn! It is all about the burn and only a select few make you feel it. Cathe, Jari, Jeanette Jenkins, Barry (from Barry's Bootcamp), Jillian Michaels, Jackie, Bob Harper, Tracy Effinger and Gilad. They're very good at making you feel the burn! They are some of the best at it. I like how the workouts progress in stages. She gives you time to learn and master the workouts before moving to the next level. This will be a go to when I need to get my butt in shape. - posted by Jo on 12/5/2011
I ended up sending this one back...I think it was an OK work out, had a little trouble with her constant bantering...not sure if I would use it religiously like some of my other DVD's, so all and all not a fan, plus it was damaged...so that also made me lose interest. - posted by Sharon on 11/6/2011
Not for beginners...
I liked this set well-enough, but I didn't love it. The workouts don't require a lot of equipment and the time lengths are great for add-ons. The LOWER BODY workouts are the strong point for the set (well, what did you expect with a title like that!) After doing the Level 1 lower body workout, I had serious inner thigh muscle soreness...and the other 2 levels did not disappoint! The UPPER BODY workouts moved very quickly and with little form instruction; I thought it would be too easy for injury to occur (especially with some of the movements used). My main issues with this dvd set: the constant (but unhelpful) chatter from the instructor, the lack of form instruction/modification, the repetition (each workout repeats a movement for multiple circuits), the speed of the moves. One additional warning: Pauline uses the word "a-s-s" several times (during the intro and the workouts). This limits my use of this set because I will not use this dvd in the presence of my children. So, overall, the actual lower body workouts are pretty good (and effective, if I can judge from my soreness), but I would not recommend the set to those who are new to working out, despite the different levels. - posted by Alison on 11/4/2011
OUCH!!! What a workout!!!
This workout is serious! Pauline delivers 100%. If you're not serious about working your butt and thighs and give up at level 1 then this is definitely not the workout for you. She takes traditional moves with lots of reps and makes your lower body work HARD. Your thighs and butt will be shaking and crying for mercy by the time Pauline is finished with them. A lot of reviews have complained about her constant talking throughout but I personally felt that it got me through the last reps of some of the exercises. The only thing I did not like was the fact that she had very negative opinions regarding Yoga and Pilates (which I was contemplating giving her 4 stars for). I incorporate Yoga and Pilates by doing the Exhale Core fusion series in my fitness regime and they are very beneficial to the body. Also, it was quite hypocritical to put these other forms of exercises down especially when some of her stretch exercises are yoga stretches e.g. the pigeon. I alternate Level 1,2 and 3 so I do not get bored of the workout and also I try my best to eat the right foods to get even better results. - posted by Cee Doyley on 10/31/2011
