Time graph for The Firm: 5-Day Abs & Tough Tape 2
Two full workouts: one for your abs, one for your lower body. The intermediate-level “5-Day Abs” has five complete 6 to 9-minute ab toners. Each day it’s a different instructor showing different moves - your mind is motivated by the variety; your muscles are challenged by the changing routines (e.g. you’ll work your obliques one day, your lower abs the next). The intermediate-level “Tough Tape 2” is the perfect complement to the "Abs" program -- it targets your upper and lower body. The precise moves are constantly varied to work each body part in different ways but always with a well-defined focus - you’ll return to the same muscles again and again to really achieve concentrated results. Blends standing, floor and seated moves into a tough series of no-nonsense exercises - usually three interspersed sets per muscle group. Both programs are re-compiled from previous Firm workouts. “Tough Tape” requires a step/box and two sets of dumbbells. A workout dowel is suggested. ©1994 & 1998. DVD has: Chapter menus.

The Firm: 5-Day Abs & Tough Tape 2

LOVE This DVD!
The abs part is great, short & too the point, working all muscle groups effectively. Tough Tape 2 delivers on that promise! I can barely make it through the entire workout without stopping, dripping sweat for the entire time & for about a half hour afterward, noticeable results in about 2 weeks! I'd really love to know the average calories burned from this DVD!? - posted by Melissa on 6/14/2008
The Last AB DVD You'll Ever Buy
5 day abs may appear dated, but you have to give this workout a try. You'll never buy another ab dvd after you've experienced 5 day abs. You will see results in 10 workouts. - posted by Chelsea on 6/3/2008
Great workout
I love Tough Tape 2. I like the fact it goes back and forth between upper and lower body. From squats to pushups, step ups to shoulder presses, etc. Doing this makes you work harder, makes this workout also aerobic, and you will sweat. It gets progressively harder as you go through the workout and it hits the exercises people miss like, the rotator cuff, rhomboids and rear deltoids. One of my favorites! - posted by Patrice on 5/14/2008
Good stuff
Tough tape is just right - gets the HR up in a short amount of time, choreography is easy to catch on to. I'm a long-time fan of 5 day abs. They're good ab workouts 5-9 minutes each and great for adding onto another work out for that extra hit. And it's always pleasant to have Mr. Hottie introduce the segments. :) - posted by Kris on 1/29/2008
5-Day Abs
I don't have Tough Tape 2, but I bought 5-Day Abs seperately. Yes, it is very cheesy and outdated in terms of clothing. But, if you can get past that, it is a fantastic workout. I have been working out for years and consider myself advanced, but I still get a good burn going with these ab segments. Each segment is only about 6-8 minutes long but very effective. - posted by Rachel on 1/11/2008
Great start to 2008
After not having done Tough Tape 2 for years and years, I began 2008 with this workout. A great way to start off the new year! (The owner of numerous Firm tapes in VHS format, I treated myself to the Standing Legs/Upper Body/Tough Tape 2/5-Day Abs DVD four pack on December 31.) It was good to be back in the Firm saddle again (after taking time off from the Firm to experience other workouts) and be challenged by the cardio and strength moves from various Firm videos (as this is a compilation of several Firm videos). I found that I was not quite as up to speed with getting the equipment (dowel, 14-inch fanny firmer, 2 x 4, barbell) in place for the various segments as I used to be. But, to get back on track, I'll view the tape between uses to reacquaint myself with the procedures. I followed the workout with the first three ab routines from 5-Day Abs.The Firm workouts withstand the test of time... and I'll rotate this workout along with other Firm workouts, Anna Benson's KickButt workouts, and the Patrick Goudeau workouts so that my mind and body, too, will withstand the test of time! - posted by Joy on 1/2/2008
Better than I expected
I broke down and bought this because of everything I've heard about "buy the older Firms, they're the only ones that are any good" and all that. Not only was is a FABULOUS workout, I found that the cheese-factor didn't bother me at all. I actually enjoyed the crappy music, since it was so high-energy and unusual. The best part is that there are many different instructors, so it's not a huge deal if you find one of them really annoying. - posted by tory on 8/30/2007
I love the abs workout
The ab workout is great and I wish there were more out there that are like it. The Firm has other ab workout video's and they are just too easy so I don't use them anymore. This one is great. - posted by Margo on 7/13/2007

You always have 5 minutes!
I have used this dvd for about 5 years. Although I only use the ab part of it-I put on the ankle weights and put a weight on my chest. There is never an excuse as to why you can't do 5-8 minutes of exercise and you WILL feel it! Usually you think that you don't get much from such a short time, but if you don't let your abs relax in between reps, then you may be cursing the girl on screen. Which is wonderful because even after 5 years and captain's crunches, etc....I can still count on a decent ab workout in my own house and my hubbie gets a kick out of the cut man who starts each video. - posted by Maria on 3/8/2007
Tough workout
Just like the title states it is a tough tape. I remember when I first tried this tape with my young nieces -- they would workout with me when they were over -- it was an easy day for me so I used really light weights -- when we got through we were all saying how tough it is. This video always makes my shoulders pump up. Love it!!! - posted by Geneva on 2/18/2006

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
