Time graph for The Firm: Cardio Dance Fusion
An easy-to-follow blend of classic aerobics and simple dance. More like a party than a workout, this program is all about having fun. No dance background required — Alison Davis’ friendly, add-on cuing makes these eight-count moves totally do-able (while the “gotta move your feet” music keeps you motivated). Each 10-minute segment features a different music/dance style: club, Latin, jazz and modern. But it’s never “hard core” dance; every section also includes a medley of familiar Firm-style classics (e.g. the Latin segment combines pliés, knee-lifts and box steps with sambas and mambos). DVD also has 25-minute premixed workout options featuring just one dance. ©2007. DVD has: 3 premixes (23 to 25-min. alternate workouts).

The Firm: Cardio Dance Fusion

FUN!
This is a fun workout!! Completely enjoyable with good cuing and great mix of choreography and impact. If you don't feel like working out and want to have fun - buy this one!! Loved it and the instructor is great!! - posted by Kim on 7/23/2008
Good but not Great
This dvd had the potential to be outstanding... Allison is a great instructor, the dance moves are energetic and fun, but many times they were not on the beat! The first dance isn't even choreographed to the phrase. Like several of the other customers, I didn't like the last section, but it wasn't the moves- it was that they weren't on the beat. When an instructor isn't on the phrase, people will have a hard time following even if they don't realize that's why. I would love to see a re-make of this on a strict 32 count. Allison's cueing is superb, but I would like a little more detail on some of the moves.. like on the 6 ct. mamba, were the arms starting to the side or to the front? Once I learn all the moves from this dvd, I'll do them myself wtih my own music. - posted by Dixie on 7/23/2008
Lousy Camera Work
I'm not in shape at all. I've got a lot of weight to lose, but about six years ago before I went off to college, I was in great shape. I danced a majority of my life (I even progressed to pointe before I desired a pointe shoe bonfire in my backyard) and played soccer and loved to run. So when I say that I should be able to follow this workout, I mean that it's nothing more complicated than I've ever done. But I spent a lot of time getting really annoyed that I couldn't see the footwork throughout the whole thing. Alison is very pretty and I like her a lot but I don't want to see her smiling face and not her feet when she's telling me what to do next. It is a bit repetitive but I think it'd be a lot more fun if it was more like a mirror in front of me instead of someone just telling me what to do. (Dancers almost always have big mirrors around to check their form out in and in spite of not having danced in years, I still want some mirror version of what I'm doing.) If you don't mind taking an extra time or two through this workout to get which moves go when, and you want to dance with The Firm, go for it. If you don't think you have the patience, you can probably live without this one. - posted by Little on 7/18/2008
It's great!
I really enjoyed it a lot, most because I burn a lot of calories and Allison keeps me motivated..Firm it's perfect. - posted by Melky Morales on 7/9/2008
Aw, I'm so sad - it's repetitive
I took dance for 12 years, and am an intermediate exerciser. The good about this workout: everybody is really having fun, and many of the moves by themselves are fun. I thought the cuing was fine, it was easy for me to catch onto, and the production quality was great. The bad about this workout: like another reviewer said, it is quite repetitive. I think the Firm probably did this b/c the combos do include a lot of moves, and they wanted almost everyone to be able to do the workout. But the combos are repeated a lot. Also, I really didn't think the music was all that great, and I especially disliked the "jive" section. Alison is a great instructor though and if you have some trouble catching on to dance workouts, this would probably be a good one. - posted by Nyx on 6/19/2008
OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!
Im 52, have 40 more lbs to lose, exercise daily, not a dancer, so if I can do this, so can you !! OMG, this got my heart rate way up, soaked me with sweat, and basically kicked butt!! - posted by Annette on 6/19/2008
Good, few flaws
I liked the video for the most part, like everyone else. My only complaint is that she sometimes doesn't cue as well as she usually does and the videographer didn't do her any favors by not showing the feet when you are trying to learn tricky steps! I also didn't like all the plies. It got a little boring for the last 15 minutes. - posted by Kate on 6/15/2008
Dripping with sweat!
I love, love, love this video. Talk about a great workout in 40 minutes! I love her dance moves and how every move is geared toward working your core!. My favorite is the dancer moves at the end. I've only been doing this workout consistently for about a week and can already see results in my waist! - posted by Lisa on 6/11/2008
tough cardio dance
This is not an easy workout. It is long (45 minutes), it is intense, and the teaching style is lightening-fast. I am not a good dancer, but I love Alison Davis, so I persisted through the whole thing. I would rank this intermediate-advanced. For those who find the 30 minute standard dance DVDs too easy (cardio-speaking), this workout is perfect. The music is excellent. - posted by Bertha on 5/31/2008
I am NOT a dancer and I loved this!
Allison is too totally perky! I liked her enthusiasm a lot. This video does move quickly and you don't always have a chance to catch up but that's where the rewind button comes in! I did sit through a couple of the moves and just watch until I caught on but when I had it down it was so fun and so worth it! I can be exercising in a cool room and work up a great sweat and I have so much fun the work out just flies by and the feeling of accomplishment I get by working through the moves until I get them and I can keep up is wonderful! I reccomned this video to anyone and I tell the non-dancers out there just keep rewinding and keep on counting the beats until you get it, you won't be sorry! - posted by Sassy Nancy on 5/22/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Premixes

These are alternate workouts created by the manufacturer. They use the same content as the main program (i.e. the very same video footage). But the sections are re-edited into pre-made alternative workouts that you select from a menu. These are often condensed versions of the main workout.
