Certified instructor description: The Firm’s first-ever dance workout features three distinct dance segments: hip hop/funky, Latin and disco. The strong beat, eight-count combos and add-on cuing make it easy to follow — even the “dance challenged” will be havin’ fun and burnin’ calories. Each section starts with the basics and slowly builds into faster, more interesting choreography (but it’s never truly complex or “tricky”). In fact, many patterns have a “fitness” feel — a medley of full-range-of-motion pumps, lunges and bounces. Allie DelRio Pointer keeps it upbeat and friendly; she knows we’re here to have fun, not win a dance contest. ©2006. DVD has: Region 1.

The Firm: Cardio Dance Slim Down

Too Boring
Moves too repetitive. I've done other workouts and they do different moves and then put them together at the end. This one did the same moves over and over again. Maybe they can try a different format next time. Disappointed with this one. - posted by Aleatha1 on 3/6/2012
Whoa!
This was way too evocative for me. I wanted to learn a few smooth dance moves while getting my body going. This would probably appeal to the 30s and younger crowd who love pelvic thrusts and the graphic videos that go along with today's musical "hits." Also, all the people in the video are size zero and exposing a lot of skin. I was looking for something that focused on rhythm and movement, not physical allure. I donated this to my local library. - posted by Maggie on 7/21/2011
Just OK
I'm a big fan of The Firm videos, but this one was disappointing. The music didn't make you want to dance (or maybe it was too soft) and the moves were just average. There are many better dance exercise videos out there. - posted by Mary on 3/29/2011
Fun
While this isn't the hardest workout I've done from the firm(I'm intermediate/advanced),I find it really fun to do. Have noticed other reviewers saying it doesn't get the heart rate up,one way I've been able to combat that is to modify this workout by jogging throughing all the marching parts, jumping the moves and really getting the hips moving:) I find if you do that you get a much better heart rate increase and calorie burn.Allie is one of my favourite instructors, shes motivating without being annoying,I used to do a lot of Denise Austin dvds before discovering Allie's but must say I prefer Allies - posted by Shelbie on 12/10/2010
I loved it!
I liked this workout because it was easy to follow and FUN to do! I have always loved Allie as a Firm instructor from way back and this may not be the toughest workout-but it is not meant to be. It is fun! - posted by Tracy on 9/24/2010
Tons of Fun!
I really love that the FIRM did a beginner style workout. It gives true beginners like me a chance to workout with Allie. I’m just not ready for workouts like Cardio Sculpt, Maximum Cardio Burn, or Hard Core Fusion. But this dancing workout is helping me shed pounds so that one day I can. I am so happy with this workout and it is so fun to do. I look forward to doing it each time I do it. I love it! Thanks Allie! - posted by Emily on 11/29/2009
Only for beginners
I was disappointed at the cheesy moves and simplicity of this video. Definitely not a good representation of what the Firm has to offer. - posted by Laura on 11/25/2009
Great, perfect
This is the perfect exercise video for me. I love dancing and hate exercising. I try to do it every day. I've used it for the last 3 months and lost 26 pounds. I break out into a sweat every time. Once you get the moves down it moves quickly. I like that Allie uses repetition. It was much easier to learn that way. It's fun and I enjoy it every time. - posted by Karen on 7/21/2009
I really enjoy this workout
After trying this a couple times I really love it. Now that I've got the choreography down ( Allie cues very well!)I really get into it and concentrate on giving the moves my all as if I'm on a dance show or something and I work up a great sweat, especially during the latin segment. The music's great too. I have the Leslie Sansone 5 mile fat burning walk and I find that my heart rate gets much more elevated with this dance workout, although I guess I'm more of a beginner exerciser. But I really enjoy this- it's Fun! and the time flies by if you really get into it. - posted by Nina on 5/19/2009
Disappointed in The Firm, skip this one
I am a devoted follower of The Firm for nearly 10 years and I think they dropped the ball on this one. I did not break a sweat and my heart rate actually rose more going down the steps to the basement to do this workout than it did during the workout itself. I have done this video three times and was bored to the finish. If you are *brand-new* to exercising this may be fun for you, it is a walk in the park. But if you are new to the Firm please don't judge them on this video alone. They have excellent, effective workouts but unfortunately this is not one of them. The older ones (BSS1 & BSS2) give the best results. I don't much care for any of the "pink" workouts. - posted by Karen on 4/19/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
