Time graph for The Firm: Core Stability Ball (with ball)
A varied, fast-moving series of on-the-ball body-sculpting moves (the DVD comes with a 25-inch stability ball and a hand pump). Allie DelRio Pointer’s clear cuing and progressively-more-challenging design makes it very do-able (e.g. the side lying sequence — you’ll begin by just moving the ball; you’ll increase the range of motion to work the obliques, and you’ll end with a lower-body-focused side plank/leg lift series). There is never a wasted motion; Allie’s transitions are always smooth and natural. Even the stretches are precisely timed to provide a quick break after an especially tough segment. ©2006. DVD not available without ball. DVD has: Region 1.

The Firm: Core Stability Ball (with ball)

Fun and effective
Did not expect the workout to be challenging but it was! I've never used a stability ball before. The dvd worked all areas of the body in a unique way; I especially liked the ab work. I am a complete klutz and I did find myself rolling off the ball at inappropriate times but that's okay, it means I need to work on my balance. I've been using Firm workouts for a while; I have a lot of the '80s-90's videos so I decided to refresh my library with some of the "pink" titles and I really think workouts like this one and the weighted balls are nice supplements to the heavy dumb bell/fanny lifter weight work that the Firm is famous for. I just wish it was longer. - posted by Michele on 8/29/2009
Short and not Diffucult
I purchased the firm sets years ago and loved them but after I got married I let myself go. I just recently got back into exercising at the gym but wanted to use the stability ball for abs and to give myself some variety. I found the video to be very easy to do but I must admit, by the end of the 30min video I was actually sweating and felt it in my abs the next day. It is not bad for beginers but it focused on legs, hips and thighs with not enough time for abs. - posted by Amy on 4/9/2009
Good Introduction to the Stability Ball
This really is a beginner/intermediate level workout - but don't let that stop you if you are intermediate/advanced. This is great for those days when you don't have a lot of time; or maybe you have gone without a workout for a week or more and need to get back into the routine; also, great as a 30 min cardio warm-up. Don't let some of the low ratings stop you from purchasing this DVD - especially if you have never tried a stability ball workout. As you work this DVD more you start to pay closer attention to your form and that increases the effectiveness of the workout. I'm at an intermediate/advanced level and really enjoy this DVD when I'm short on time. Hope this helps. Oh, one more thing - you will need some room to do this workout so if you are reeeally tight on space just keep that in mind. - posted by MA on 10/22/2008
Hate to say it, but..
Now I will start out by saying that I LOVE CV - I've purchased many videos here and will continue to do so in the future. However, I must suggest going elsewhere in this particular case b/c you CAN get the video without the ball - and it's worth it. I was really frustrated, just like previous posters, b/c I already had a ball and just wanted another video to use with it. I almost gave up, but decided to poke around online just in case. I won't name names b/c I would like this to be posted, but just search around a little and you'll find it. It's a great video to add to the collection so don't pass it up just b/c you can't get the DVD by itself here (sorry, CV, I still love you)! - posted by Christi on 8/28/2008
3 Stars to Symbolize the 3 Types of Customers Who Need This DVD
1) If you are new to the stability ball and would like to try it, this dvd is great to start out. It's fun and not too hard. I'm intermediate to advanced, and I really enjoyed it. 2) If you already have a stablity ball workout and would like to expand your collection, I would definitely recommned this one. It is a different workout than Mari Winsor's ball workout and different from the Core Secrets ball workouts. 3) If you are looking for a good intermediate core training workout, I would get this dvd. In fact, the Firm should have put core training in the title because that is reallly what this dvd is mostly focused on. It's mentioned in the small print, but they should have highlighted that fact more. What else can I say? I look forward to doing it again. A lot of reviewers complained about having to buy the ball when they already had one. I agree, that is a pain. But I have had a ball pop before, so it's nice to have a backup in case it happens again. You could also donate your old one to a charity drive. You won't be sorry for purchasing a stablity ball because there are dozens of workouts listed that either focus the entire workout around the stablity ball or there are workouts that use it somewhere in the workout as either a tool for balance training or as leverage in core training or as a a tool to lengthen stretches, and sometimes as a simple chair for seated exercises. Also, sometimes it is used almost as a replacement for a weight bench. The stablity ball is absolutely an invaluable tool. I've learned new ways to use it in every stabilty ball dvd I have, and this Firm video is no acception. - posted by Stacey on 8/4/2008
If you sell seperately... I might try it
I own a number of the Firm DVD's and enjoy them. I want this one, but refuse to spend extra to clutter the basement with another ball. - posted by Lynn on 6/3/2008
Not so great...
I have definitely done better workouts from The Firm before. I could see it being a good introduction -- the moves aren't too hard to learn and Ali's cueing is pretty good -- but after doing this a couple of times I can imagine myself getting pretty bored pretty easily. But as with all the firm videos -- the production values are good and the instructors are pleasant so it's not so bad. - posted by M.K. on 6/1/2008
Easy for the Advanced
This was my fist time to do a stability ball workout. I thought the workout could have been harder, but the pushups were a little challenging. The cueing is great and the moves are not complex. Over all, this is a good workout, just not the best from The Firm. - posted by Emily on 4/27/2008
The more I do this one...
The more I do this workout, the more things I find to appreciate about it, and feel the effects. It's a fantastic add on with a very vigorous warmup. It hits every body part very efficiently for a 30 minute workout, especially the lower body & core. It's too easy as a stand alone for a truly advanced exerciser, but good for all levels leading up to that, and as I use it -- an add-on tidy little toner/core workout to throw on after my cardio. Aliie is creative with the ball, and cues expertly. The ball is fantastic quality. I got rid of my other one to keep this one. All in all, a good buy for me. - posted by Sam on 3/27/2008
Pretty Good
I liked the DVD that comes along with it.The ball on the other hand is a bit frustrating. I wanted to just blow it up and go try out the video. So i was blowing up the ball an it would only go as big as a kids volley ball. I thought i got a deffective ball. I laughed though as the ball looked quite funny. A stability ball for 5 year olds. My niece likes to pretend to exercise along with me and she begged me to have the ball for herself lol So i looked at the directions to see what the problem was an it turns out you can blow it up a small amount leave it for a few days to stretch fill it up a bit more then let it rest and stretch again then continue till its filled. I dont think i ever got mine completly filled as it was to annoying to fill so slowly all the time i just got another stability ball for the workout one i could use straight away. It is a nice ball though "when its full" I loved the pink color. The one here shows green but it depends on which one you get it goes by height. Im short so i got a small ball which are pink. Good video though. Definitly recommend if you are willing to wait to use the ball and can not be to annoyed by slowly having to inflate it. - posted by MK on 3/25/2008

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
