Time graph for The Firm: Hard Core Fusion
A solid aero/tone interval program expertly cued by Allie DelRio. You get alternating segments of fat-burning cardio and multi-muscle body-sculpting. Each five-minute segment includes an exceptionally varied selection of moves, styles and techniques. The aerobic elements range from dance and kickbox to calisthenics and sports (always carefully “choreographed” into smooth-flowing sequences). The toning exercises maximize time-efficiency by working several body areas at once (e.g. a lower-body lunge combined with an upper-body tricep press). Note: DVD previously released in the Firm’s “TransFirmation” kit. Requires 3 to 10 lb. dumbbells. ©2007. DVD has: 1 35 min. express workout, Spanish option.

The Firm: Hard Core Fusion

So-so workout...
The things that I liked about this workout were the toning exercises and the variations. However the cardio segments were not THAT good. The music is kind of slow for the movements that Allie gives and she changes the movements so fast that its hard to keep up with her. (Even some of her fellow instructors got lost in the workout) In other words you will have to memorize them since the cueing is not that good. (Her attitude is sweet though) I felt kind of silly doing some of the "dancing" moves...looking at the bright side you will have a laugh. Some lunges are kind of tricky and could be dangerous for people with knee problems. So-so workout if compared to the other FIRM workouts. - posted by Annette on 11/2/2009
Fun and great total body workout!
This dvd is my favorite out of the rest of the series and of course, it is another great workout by Allie! She is my favorite firm instructor and she's always on cue. It is a great cardio/sculpt workout with lunges with bicep curls, a little cardio kickboxing cardio and dance sections, for example. you end it with a abs/triceps routine and a nice stretch. In other future Firm dvd's I sure to hope that the edit whatever mistakes an instructor makes cause that totally drives me crazy! It seems that with their new series, they hurry up to come with some more videos and keep the goof ups the instructor makes. You pay for this dvd so why not get your money's worth! And keep them longer with a setting to get what type of workout YOU want please!!!! I hate these short workouts that are only 20 or 30 min. long! - posted by Vivian on 10/31/2009
This Video is Fun and Creative!
This video is not as intense as The Firm 500 Calorie one, but it's super fun and will make you sweat. Time flies by when I work out with this DVD, each segment is light weight but lots of reps, which is awesome. The cardio is really fun and unlike any moves the firm has done before. Sometimes with the firm the weight is too heavy and the moves are too challenging that I stop doing the DVD's because I dread having to do them because they are too tough! Not with this one, I was sweating and having a good time. When the DVD was over I thought only 30 minutes had gone by! I love Allie, she has always been my favorite Firm instructor! - posted by Christie on 9/13/2009
Love Allie!
Allie has been my Fave Firm instructor ever since I discovered the Firm with BSS1. I liked the workout-it is definitely easier then the other BSS's from the past. I think the fanny lifter, firm box and transfirmer-even the wave all made things a little more challenging! I still liked this though! You are moving for an hour with light cardio and weight intervals. Allie is always good- it seems like she baby talks a little-but I don't care- she is a great instructor! I really like the ab work-the standing abs and tricep-tummy toner and planks at the end! The choreography actually seemed different as well for the cardio segments. It has a place in my rotation. As I get a little older- I don't want to beat myself up as much! - posted by TracyAZGirl on 8/10/2009
won't do this one again
I am 23 and an intermediate/advanced exerciser. This video was pretty boring and not very challenging. It would probably be better suited to a beginner. As someone else pointed out- the instructors looked bored and didn't even break a sweat. - posted by Sierra on 8/10/2009
A Soild Workout...
I got this workout with the Transfirmation set. Just recently I pulled out this workout as I hadn't done it in awhile and found myself questioning why I have not added this one into my rotation more. At first when just using the "pink" weights with the workout the strength segments seemed "too easy", I totally remedied that with adding heavier weights and got a GREAT workout, although you can also use this as a cardio workout with just the pink weights too. I felt the cardio was easy to follow and diverse, if you give it your all your heartrate will really go up. Allie uses alot of plyos and jumps in alot of the cardio segments. what I liked about the strength segments were the 4 limbed and functional movements in alot of the exercises, a totally different approach and fun in my opinion as well as beneifical. As for Allie, she did a little bit of the baby talk, but I overlooked that as her cueing was great and the workout flowed. All in all I am glad I purchased this set.. - posted by Jordan on 8/5/2009
a good mix
I enjoyed this video by Allie. It's a good mix of cardio and sculpt. This was one of my first Firm videos and I have not regret buying this one. I always go back to it. My favorite moves are the ones where we work our waist. After this work out I feel like I have accomplished a good workout. - posted by Sandra on 8/3/2009
Challenging workout...if you make it that way!
Allie is a great instructor; clear, percise, encouraging but not annoying. The music is good, and it's almost an hour long. The cardio routines may take you a few times to perfect, but they really aren't too fancy, even if you're new to the firm. It has a nice low impact cardio segment at the end and a tough standing abs routine that really hits your obliques and challenges your balance. I use a range of dumbells from #28lbs to 8lbs, and I do higher impact moves during cardio segments. Just like with any dvd that includes heavy lifting; if it's easy to you, you aren't lifting heavy enough. Trust me after 28lb deadlifts, 20lb hammer curls, and 15lb butt & back burner, those cardio moves are far from easy and boring. Fair warning though- she goes fast. Be patient with yourself and try to keep moving- march in place if you need to. Just don't give up! - posted by Monique on 6/24/2009
Didn't enjoy this one...
Let me start off by saying this is the second DVD I have by Allie and I haven't been impressed by either. The toning sections did have some different moves but I felt that some of them (like the lunge forward with a kick on the same leg) didn't flow and were borderline dangerous. Also, I don't have The Firm weights, so some of the transitions went way too quickly to be able to switch weights. I thought Allie's cueing was off, too; she jumped from move to move without any warning. The cardio section was terrible. It was slow, didn't get my heart rate up and was just plain boring. I didn't enjoy the music, either. Lastly, I really felt that the rest of the people working out with Allie weren't quite there either. Rebekah, who is a great instructor, messed up quite frequently and others weren't doing the moves correctly. There are much better workouts out there which will get your heart rate up and give you a good total body workout--this is not one of them. - posted by Kate on 6/21/2009
Solid workout, great instructor
Allie is a superb video instructor. This workout has some interesting sculpting moves and I really enjoy the cardio~finally the Firm has some longer cardio segments! As much as I enjoyed the earlier GT/Gaiam releases, I found myself wishing for a bit more cardio in the AWT's and this fit the bill. - posted by Elaine on 5/16/2009

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
