Certified instructor description: A well-designed dumbbell workout that optimizes results with precise weight-level selections (so the weight is matched to the specific muscle group being worked). It’s also time-efficient; the between-move transitions are short and smooth-flowing. Annie Lee incorporates a huge variety of exercises and techniques — sometimes working multiple body parts, sometimes isolating a single muscle group. To assure proper form, she often starts with a base routine and then adds another body part or movement plane. Requires at least two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 lb. and 5 lb.). ©2007. Note: previously only available in “The Firm TransFirmation” kit. DVD has: 1 premix (25-min. alternate workout)., Spanish option, Region 1.

The Firm: Hi-Def Sculpt

Hi - def sculpt
Love the results... so does my hubby :) thanks FIRM - posted by Theresa on 4/5/2012
Luv it!
I love this workout! I don't usually like toning workouts, I'm strictly a cardio gal but I do love this one. It has so much variety (no boredom) and low reps so you're getting a good workout without killing yourself. Annie is cute as can be and has an amazingly sculpted upper body. Love the music too. - posted by Jenny on 2/8/2012
Good work out
This is a good solid workout. No complicated dance moves. I like that I don't have to gather a stepbox, ankle weights, barbell, dumbbells, etc...All you need are two or three sets of dumbbells. I also like the sound track. Annie Lee does make a few minor mistakes in direction, but the great workout compensates for it. This is one of my favorites. - posted by Teresa on 1/15/2012
BODY SCULPTING
Great for balance and body sculpting. You will feel and look fabulous! - posted by Patricia on 11/25/2011
A Real Favorite
I LOVE this workout..it's slower, well cued and demands much of each body part it's working. I love Annie Lee and wish there were more DVDs by her. This workout made me sweat and I do it at least twice a week as part of my rotation. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to feel like they've really worked out without feeling like you want to die when you're done. - posted by Joanna on 9/24/2011
Feel it!
I like Annie Lee a lot even though she isn't quite as polished on video as some of the other FIRM instructors. More importantly the work out was great. I felt like I really accomplished a total body work out. Felt it still the next day and I've been using FIRM videos since the mid 90's. I like the purposeful moves with weights, not dancey moves that are just confusing and feel like a waste of time. So this was a winner for me. - posted by Stef on 7/21/2011
Poorly cued
The exercises are ok, but this is very poorly cued by Firm standards. Sometimes you do all one side of an exercise first, sometimes you alternate, but the instructor Annie never tells you which it's going to be. You have to watch the screen really closely to see if she's alternating or staying on the same side. I don't care for Annie's style generally -- she's too slow and downbeat for me -- but there's no excuse for poor cueing. I only do this workout occasionally and I always forget that I have to WATCH to see what's going on rather than focusing on my form and listening. - posted by Tracey S on 7/10/2011
Hi def sculpt
I was so pleasantly surprised to receive my dvd in such a timely manner. I am thoroughly enjoying it... although her cueing is not as sharp as some of the other instructors but i've learned the routine. I might add that I am sixty-eight years old. Thank you - posted by Willie Ruth on 6/21/2011
good workout
I have only done this workout once as i just got it today. i must say it was a good workout. i like that the toning exercises are a little different than usual. makes me feel like i am breaking out of a rut and i wish i was built like annie. her arms are amazing. - posted by kenberly on 5/31/2011
Really Like It!
This has been in my rotation for awhile - It is a very comprehensive, total body workout. Annie has her cueing "oops" moments throughout, but give her a break!! She has perfect form and is very pleasant. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get some fun weight work in. - posted by April on 5/3/2011

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
