Certified instructor description: A well-structured interval program that strengthens your body for actual day-to-day activities — “functional fitness.” Nearly every move works multiple muscle groups in varied angles and planes (just like real life). The first aero/tone segment is total-body-focused; the second targets your legs and buttocks. Both sections feature a wide variety of toning styles — from isometrics and gym-type exercises to ballet and kickbox moves (with lots of subtle position and pulse intensifiers). The cardio intervals combine higher-impact jumps and jacks with easier marches and knee lifts. The program ends with Pilates-based corework. Requires two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 and 10 lb.). ©2012. Tracey Mallett's F.I.T. Functional Intensity Training

Undecided
I've done each workout segment once and the first workout 3 times now. While I like Tracy's style, the moves are interesting and I get a decent workout, I'm finding I am not super motivated to put this DVD in the player. I like her Booty Barre Express much more and tend to go to my Jillian Micheals Ripped in 30 or my Spartacus 20m workout DVD over this one. Overall it's good, it just hasn't clicked with me. - posted by Raychel on 6/13/2013
I'm a puddle!
Ok -- so I don't know why I thought this would be a "simple" DVD. Its just Tracey -- no extras and the warm up is relatively slow/easy....and then it begins. The video alternates between weights and the HIIT section which truly leaves me breathless. (and I love it!!!). One small note is that if you only want to watch one section the warm up is the same for each and then the individual section ends on a split screen without a cool down -- that is kind of odd. But... its a killer work out so that minor production issue is nothing. - posted by Ann Marie on 5/28/2013
Great Workout!
Tracey has really given us a great workout. I like that there are two workouts to choose from with additional abs that are tuff. There were some moves that I have never done before mixed in with some classic's. Hope she does more of these workouts, worth the buy. - posted by Terri on 5/24/2013
Pretty Darn Good
This is a great video with 3 distinct workouts. I love the first 2 they are great for the butt. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't because the DVD doesn't let you to go back to the begging chapters. At least that happens with my copy and it is extremely annoying. - posted by Nyd on 5/24/2013
a keeper
this is my first Tracey DVD and I really like her personality and her cueing is great. There are no other women on the floor with her, just herself which is fine. I personally like either way - an instructor by herself or some other people on the floor with her. this is a very good DVD workout. There is a little of everything including abs, high intensity, weights and stretching at the end. I will probably get more of her DVD's. I am almost 66 years old, thin and fit and I thought this was a good challenging workout for me. one small caveat, she does tend to use the same word "beautiful" a bit too often but I find many instructors have their own personal word that they use over and over again and probably don't even realize it. but it is not an issue - just something I noticed. - posted by Judy on 4/30/2013
Terrific Tracey
Whew! Talk about a workout! FIT is what you'll be if you stick with it! And, I love Tracey's motivating and clear cuing. She seems more likable on this workout because you see her struggling to breath just like you will! - posted by Ann on 4/22/2013
Waaah! :D
I love this work out, so much! I have tons of DVD's and I hate adding anything similar to my collection, this was different, in such a good way, it hit my legs in ways I hadn't felt in a while, I am used to lots of variations of lunges and squats but this made my legs burn and I really felt it where I knew it should be. The simple easy to follow tabata movements were great for breaking up the strength portions and I did the entire DVD start to finish my first try, can't wait to start using heavier weights to really challenge myself with this one. I'm now officially a die hard Tracey Mallet fan, I started with her "Booty Barre" and loved it, but wanted more cardio/strength with some of the barre feel still, this is the ticket! - posted by Soobies on 4/18/2013
Hard but I kinda love it!
I think I have all her DVD's - this is very straight forward and no fancy moves but it gets you sweating and your heart pumping! Easy to follow - I've yet to do the complete series. I always lose steam before the last one. Recommend for sure. - posted by Kelly on 4/18/2013
Quick & Effective
Very challenging workout! You feel the burn through the whole 30 min. Really hope she makes more workouts like these soon! - posted by ladymart on 4/17/2013
Loved it!
Very interesting moves and a real sweatfest. The clips don't give this workout justice. The moves looked fairly easy to me in the clips - not so. There is a lot of balance work. I did not pick up a weight over 5 pounds and I am drenched in sweat. There is no dread, the moves are unique and there is a lot on here. It's mainly compound moves that offer a real cardio effect. If you like Tracey Mallett - you will love this DVD. She is a great instructor (and I rarely stray from Cathe). - posted by Cathefan on 4/16/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
