Certified instructor description: A unique workout with a great soundtrack ... but absolutely no verbal cuing. Instead, you'll learn the moves in the 46-minute tutorial. Then you'll just follow Tracy as she blasts through a fast-paced series of traditional, jazz and hip hop combos. Probably not for dance newbies, but it is doable. Tracy's classical dance training is obvious. Her movements are precisely choreographed and very crisp — there's never any doubt where her feet are going (also, the DVD shows two versions of the workout: one filmed from the front, one filmed from the back). So what's the benefit of no cuing? You have total freedom to move with the music. Sure, follow Tracy if you like. Or just catch the rhythm and groove to your own personal dance routine. ©2012. Tracy Anderson Method: Dance Cardio Workout

No cool down?
I bought this DVD after borrowing at library. It is difficult, but I am learning the steps. I completed the whole workout last night. After the last dance, the DVD went to disc menu, there was no cool down. I find it hard to believe there would not be a cool down after all that dancing. - posted by Cheryl on 4/25/2013 [note from Collage] Cheryl- your dvd is not defective, there is no cool down. We do show that on our graph online that there is no cool down.Once in a while you do run into that, but not very often thank goodness.
Excellent
This video is very difficult to learn. You have to watch the tutorial where she breaks down the steps one dance at a time until you completely have the steps memorized. Once you have done that it is then very helpful to do the dances on 1/2 speed so that you are not overwhelmed. I am not a good dancer but I am able to do this video all the way through and find it to be a great workout. I like that she does not talk at all while you are doing the dances. If you have learned them to the degree that you should before you begin, there is no need for her to give cuing. I find it really annoying to have to hear the same phrases of encouragement over and over when you use a DVD repeatedly. The only problem with this DVD is that it would have been better to be able to repeat the dance lesson part with a menu to jump back to the beginning of each dance than to have to rewind it repeatedly. If you want to jump right in with no time taken to learn steps this is not the video for you. However, you do get a great sense of accomplishment as well as a great workout if you take the time to learn the steps. This is a very bouncy dance video which makes it seem as though it would be a very high calorie burner, somewhat equivalent to jumping rope for 40 minutes. - posted by Heidi on 4/15/2013
LOVE!!
I absolutely love this DVD and Tracy Anderson Method! It took a couple of times of going through all the dance sequences before I was able to really grasp the dances, but once I did....AMAZING! If you're not familiar with TA's method, it may be a little bit of challenge for you at first, but if you stick with it, I guarantee you will love it and look forward to dancing every day. Of all her dance DVDs, this one is by far my favorite! Fairy dust galore!! - posted by Marie on 3/30/2013
Love this!
I've had this dvd for a long time, and it's one of the only ones I keep coming back to. The only issue I have with it is that the chaptering could have been a lot better. Still, the routine is very fun, quite aerobically challenging (which is very often NOT the case with dance dvds), and the music is great. If you don't like learning complex choreography, I would pass on this one. This is not as complex as Dance Cardio II, but some people may find it difficult - especially since you have to remember the routine as opposed to having the instructor slowly build it up while you do your cardio. I really like that the learn and perform sections are separate on this dvd. I wish more dvds were like this. - posted by Ali on 2/12/2013
Fair chance?
Maybe I didn't give it a fair chance because I really didn't want to HAVE TO learn a routine. I just wanted to dance/workout, but you can't NOT unless you have a TON of dancing experience. It probably is a good workout, but I just didn't really give it a chance. Some of the moves are kind of "sexy" and I felt really foolish doing them and can't imagine me actually doing those moves. - posted by RebA on 1/24/2013

awful
tracy gives an instruct video and she is not in the least precise on her moves and she is all over the place. she is not the encouraging type does not smile or anything. she just goes through the motions. she is a disappointment. i will stick to core rhythms. - posted by carol on 1/22/2013
Fun dance video
I'm pretty uncoordinated but even I was able to learn this routine and I really enjoy it. It gets my heart rate up and it's really fun and challenging. I don't enjoy the dance moves of other instructors because they seem pointless but this one is great. I took a chance after some negative comments by other reviewers and am really glad I did. I like this routine a lot. - posted by Sally on 1/18/2013
Really like it
I am the worst dancer you will ever meet, but I like this video. I have been breaking down each combo and I can get it. If I can, anyone can. The only reason I rated this four stars is because it really needs to have chapters. I am constantly rewinding and fast forwarding to see the instructions again. I also like to do the instructional until I mostly get it and then go to the actual workout and try it, which is a pain to have to fast forward and rewind all the time to get to the right spot. If the video had those things, I would have given it 5 stars. - posted by Elizabeth on 1/10/2013
Dancing
I wanted another aerobic dance video to use for my daily exercise routines. I think variety is important to an exercise program. This is simply ballet to upbeat music. The explanation or tutorial given, was far from basic and left me frustrated. Although I have yet to master the ballet steps, I try to do what I can and make up my own steps. This is definitely not a beginner routine. Tracy is not very encouraging as she never smiles or talks during the work out. It's hard enough to motivate myself to do daily exercise but let's try to make it fun so I can get motivated! - posted by Roseann on 11/17/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
