Certified instructor description: Three exceptionally comprehensive programs that carefully demonstrate every classic yoga pose. You'll learn and practice a total of 35 different moves. It's a lot of content, but the instruction is never rushed. Instead Travis takes the time to fully explain the mental, physical and breath-related elements of every pose. He usually demos the moves himself, then walks among the class encouraging proper technique while also pointing out common mistakes. The first program teaches the basics like child's pose, downward dog, triangle and mountian pose. By the third workout, you're doing slightly more intense moves like chair twist, reverse cobra and even a simple shoulder stand. All three workouts end with a super-relaxing stretch segment. DVD comes with a 32-page reference booklet. A yoga block is optional. ©2012. DVD has: Music only option.

Travis Eliot's Yoga Foundations

Great beginner's DVD!
I have tried many other "Beginning" yoga DVD's, and they were either too advanced with pretzel poses or way too easy and boring. I am not very flexible, but I can still do the poses, or easily modify, on this DVD. I like Yoga Foundations because it is helping me build up to more challenging poses. I also really like the instructor's soothing voice because it helps me to relax into the poses. The workouts start slowly, so you can take a few minutes to get your mind in the right place, and then they end slowly, so you feel good when you finish. I use this on my light training days; it's good to take a break from all the walking miles I put on my legs. I will definitely be getting more of Travis Eliot's DVD's! - posted by Lynn on 6/6/2013
My fav yoga
I have a few yoga DVD's & this is my fav find, so far! Travis obviously has a soothing approach. He is non-intimidating and teaches in a way that gives me the ultimate reach, in all of my moves. He is gentle, without sparing the depth of the moves. I had not considered myself a beginner - I started yoga, at age 13, and am now in my 50's, however, I am learning basics from Travis, which were not a part of my foundation & I've been out of practice, so moving through the tightness, like a beginner. I am able to progress, daily, and it feels so good!! What he is teaching is genuine yoga & his experience is apparent. I feel like I have a personal trainer! This is so much more valuable to me than some instructor, who pops out every exercise trend because it will sell a DVD. I haven't noticed any Eastern religious practices incorporated into the workout (I read some reviews on other yoga workouts which say "too far out there" - not a problem here!). I work nights, and sometimes have difficulty with my sleep cycle - I feel grounded & ready for my day, after my morning workouts, and sleep oh-so-well, when practiced before bedtime! When purchased, I expected this to be a rare workout, but it is a favorite & a regular (aim for daily), and I "liked" Travis' page, on FB! Best yoga ever!! - posted by Linds on 6/1/2013
Great, but could use a little more guidance
Note that I gave this 5 stars, and these are just preferences. It is a little dark and hard to see at times what folks are doing. The usual advice to watch before doing (I hate that!) really applies here. But mostly it could use more verbal direction for the poses themselves. I benefit from lots and lots of instruction. Weight at the back of the heel, keep that chest lifted, make sure the neck is relaxed. I need those reminders constantly, even if I've done a class 100 times. There are folks who find that distracting or maybe insulting, so your mileage may vary. But seeing as how this is aimed at beginners, it's worth pointing out. I'm no expert, but I'd suggest Alan Finger's classic videos for people who haven't done yoga before as a companion to this one. That said, this really is good, for all the reasons (which I won't repeat) stated in the other reviews. I giggled when I saw that folks thought Travis' voice was soothing, since he's kinda yelling and has an accent that's a little harsh, especially watching the previews. But it works for him, he's not pretentious and I plan to do this video regularly. - posted by Sheryl on 4/7/2013
Relaxing
Travis has the most relaxing voice I've ever heard in a yoga workout, but the poses are held long enough to give you a workout. I think he is the best. - posted by Cherri on 3/29/2013
five stars
This is a great way to get introduced to Yoga, Travis keeps it basic and easy to follow and still a challenge. You feel like you have accomplished something when you're done. I highly recommend this video. - posted by John on 3/14/2013
Great beginner workout
This an excellent workout if you are new to yoga or just want to add the strength and flexibility to your routine. Travis has perfectly executed this DVD. Cuing is right-on. He knows exactly how far he can push you in a pose & when you need to rest. I was never a big yoga fan, but I'm hooked on Travis' ability to keep me interested until the end. Since getting this DVD, I ordered the Ultimate Yogi collection. - posted by Sharon on 3/4/2013
Excellent DVD
I decided to order this based on the reviews. I wanted to add yoga because of the flexibility and strengthening it has to offer. Travis is a phenomenal yogi instructor. He offers good cueing and explains each pose and it's benefits. This DVD is a great way to start yoga as a beginner. I plan to buy his ultimate yoga set very soon. You will not be disappointed with this DVD. - posted by Sharon on 2/10/2013
Love It!
I have always wanted to do yoga but classes aren't available locally and videos I've tried in the past have been terrible. I recently lost a significant amount(60lbs) using Firm videos but I wanted to change it up a bit. While viewing videos on Collage I happened to see Travis Eliot's Ultimate Yogi. I was very intrigued but knew I was not at a level to complete that series. I purchased Yoga Foundations and I am in love with yoga! His cueing is spot on, I don't even need to look at the TV to know what he wants me to do! I felt a difference in my body the first week. After completing three weeks my core and upper body have strengthened and my flexibility has increased greatly in just three weeks. I haven't lost any weight but I didn't really need to, I really just want to tone and I think Travis Eliot is the go-to guy! I am ready to take on the Ultimate Yogi! - posted by Shirley on 2/9/2013
Excellent Beginner/Gentle Yoga Program!
I have done all 3 sessions on this DVD, all I can say is wow! This is really great. I've been doing yoga on and off several years, both live classes and various Yoga DVDs such as Rodney, Tony Horton, and Shiva Rea. I can honestly say Travis Eliot has the best yoga DVD going right now. I finally learned how to connect breath with movement correctly, I mean- I finally get it. He gives very precise but easy to follow instructions. I love that I can do the movements without constantly looking at the screen to see if I'm doing it right. That's how good his instructions are. I highly recommend this particular DVD to anyone interested in starting yoga for the first time, or someone with little experience. He includes a short tutorial on the basic vinyasa movements going in and out of downward dog, also a little booklet that briefly describes basic yoga moves is included. I will continue to use this DVD whenever I need a gentle yoga practice, it's great for stretching out sore muscles, and also calming the mind. Excellent yoga DVD! - posted by Jackie on 2/2/2013

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
