Certified instructor description: It alternates intervals of powerful kickboxing with segments of varied dance moves — all done to super-motivating music. It's a smooth-flowing combination sure to keep you energized and challenged. You get four different kickbox/dance sequences. The kickbox sections feature classic punch, lunge and kick combos, often with a Zen influence (e.g. "start with a dragon stance," "circle your arms over the horizon"). The dance segments are even more varied — from box steps and Charlestons to sassy booty circles and "funky shoulders." Workout has a short dumbbell toning segment. Easier and more complex modifications are shown. DVD includes a bonus 30-minute toning/stretch workout. Requires 1 to 5 lb. dumbbells. ©2011. DVD has: Chapter menus.

Z-Box Fitness - The Workout

I LOVE ZBOX!
Z-Box is a great, complete workout! I absolutely LOVE the variety and the instructors are fun! So when can we expect another Z-Box DVD? I hope soon and excited to get it! Keep up the great job! You all won me over! - posted by Marie on 4/30/2013
Not For Me At All!!!
I don't like this workout at all. The instructor is to fast and hard to understand at times. I found myself standing confused because she is moving to fast from one move to another. When I am working out I don't want to spend my time confused because their cuing is off. This video has alot of great reviews is why I decided to give it a try. Maybe it's for some people but not for me. I gave it to my daughter. Not sure how she will like. I guess we'll see. - posted by Penny on 3/28/2013
Not the same old workout
At first I thought this was going to be repetitive, but I am really glad I stuck with it and finished the workout. The moves and the energy are great, and the cuing is good. This is something different, and the transition back and forth with dance and kickboxing is great. I really felt relaxed and stretched out after the Zen portion as well. I love Donna, she is fun and has a great "light" about her. - posted by Gerry on 1/31/2013
Z-box
Did not think this was a very good workout. Rather boring and repetitive. Did not get all the way through workout before deciding to send it back. - posted by Jennifer on 1/7/2013
Awesome!!!!!!
What can I say about this DVD other than awesome!!!!! I love this DVD!!!! The workout is awesome!!! The music is awesome!!! and the instructors are awesome!!! They alternate between cardio boxing and dancing, plus they have body toning. If you choose not to do the whole DVD, you have the option to do whatever session you want to. What else can you ask for? Well, ZEN is something to ask for!!! I really love the ZEN part of the DVD! It is sooo relaxing!! You will be amazed by how different you feel doing ZEN after the workout!! I play the ZEN part alone at least twice daily. It really helps to release the stress of a hard work day. I highly recommend this DVD to everybody at every age and fitness level. You will have a guaranteed great workout that is alot of fun. - posted by Nichelle on 12/30/2012
Heck Yeah!
This is awesome. Those ladies are crazy! Heart rate goes through the roof, and the dances are varied and fun. I do this every day, and am actually excited to get home and push play. Totally worth it. - posted by Thea on 8/13/2012
ZEN IS MY FAVORITE
I love the zen portion and it is different if you take the class and what is on the dvd. I attend the lim twins classes in Detroit and I love the zen! I guess you have to attend the class to get the full effect of what the zen is all about. Maybe they had a hard time trying to relay the "experience" in the dvd, but overall, it was very good. In the class, they take it into levels. At the end of the cardio portion, there is a peak and it can get real intense, but they show different "options" (as they call it) and we could do whatever we are feeling at that point. I look forward to what they are planning for their next dvd! Give this one a chance, because it is fresh and it is a total body workout. - posted by Patricia on 6/19/2012
Fun Workout!
I have been exercising with DVDs for many years, and this is really a fun workout, but you get great results, also! I always enjoyed kickboxing workouts, and this also brings in the "dance" aspect. Very different, and enjoyable workout. - posted by Paula, 48 on 4/30/2012
Loved This Workout!!!!!
I'm a long-time fan of Debbie Lim and her workouts. When I lived in the Detroit area, I took her Cardio Kickboxing class and it was the BEST workout class I have ever taken. I moved to northern Michigan a few years ago and had to drop out of her class. I was so excited to find her video on the Collage Video site and couldn't wait to receive it. I wasn't disappointed. It's a fun, fast-paced workout and really made me sweat. Debbie and her sister, Donna, are such happy, enthusiastic and motivating people. The moves are easy to follow and you feel like you are right in the class with them. I'm 63 years old and very active. I have lost 53 pounds in the past 10 months and I KNOW this workout will help keep them lost! I would highly recommend this video to everyone who wants to get fit and have a great time doing it. Can't wait for their next video!!! - posted by Gale on 3/29/2012
LOVE THIS WORKOUT!!!!
I just recently purchased this dvd, and I love it. I'm not one much for working out, I am not very active. I found it to get easier to follow the moves every time I did it. The instructors make it fun, and once you learn the moves, it's a great workout. Try it, you won't be disappointed. It's a different kind of workout, but if you like boxing and dancing, you will enjoy this. - posted by Connie on 3/26/2012

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.

Chapter menus
X
You can play only the individual workout segments you want by picking them off a chapter menu (one at a time).
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Floor aerobics & toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
