Certified instructor description: A lower-intensity version of the familiar Zumba ® Exhilarate™ series. Designed for the active older adult, these salsa-music-driven workouts are slower-paced with more detailed instruction. This kit includes three DVDs and two one-pound Zumba Toning Sticks. The Step-By-Step instructional DVD gets you started. Beto and Joy Prouty teach all four workout dances: Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia and Flamenco. The next video, Zumba Cardio, is led by Beto. It features high-energy, calorie-blasting aerobics (free-flowing and lots of fun). The third DVD is led by Joy Prouty. It's “Gold Toning” — dance-infused body-sculpting with balance exercises (often strengthening your upper-body with the Sticks while toning your lower-body with flowing pliés or leg lifts). Authentic foot-movin' Latin dance music. This set also includes a "Healthy Living Guide" booklet. ©2012.

Zumba Gold Delivers
I love my Zumba Gold dvds. They are paced just right for an active senior. I had given up on aerobic workouts because they were either too fast paced or too slow and boring. This is just right and I am feeling energized and having fun. Thanks. - posted by Winona on 5/3/2013
Live version preferred
I sold mine, after trying it just a couple of times, because I found it to be boring & ineffective. I strongly prefer DVD workouts, over the gym, but this is the one workout I think would be more fun, live, with an enthusiastic group. - posted by Linds on 4/21/2013
Zumba Gold is Fun
I was a little hesitant to order this because I thought it might be too easy based on other reviews. It is just right for me. I can easily follow the footwork, and the pace is just fast enough. The video is arranged so that just when you feel like you need a break, a segment that is less challenging lets you catch your breath before moving on to harder work. I also thought the 1 lb zumba sticks would be too light. They are not. Maybe later I will move to something heavier, but these are good for learning the routine. I have been doing walking videos for many years and just wanted a change. This was a good choice. I am 62, in good health and exercise about 5 days a week. - posted by Ellen on 3/14/2013
Great fun
The Cardio is great. The Firming up video was alittle to light for me. I'm going to try heaver weighs rather than the ones included with the work out. - posted by Sheryl on 2/14/2013
Zumba Gold Live It Up
It's a good workout for most boomers, but too slow for me. I prefer the intensity of the original Zumba set. If you have joint trouble or difficulty with balance the Zumba Gold is for you. I use it as an alternate when I want to do a less intense Zumba workout. - posted by Marilyn on 1/31/2013
So Much Fun!
I can hardly wait to get home to exercise after work when I do the Zumba Gold Live It Up workout! That it's geared toward older people works for me. I have arthritis and a replaced knee, but I can still do this workout and have great fun while doing it. Love the music, too. - posted by Pat on 1/31/2013
GREAT WORKOUT BETO
I have the first Zumba DVD and honestly couldn't keep up for me it was very difficult, but I wanted to Zumba. I ordered from Collage Video and "Live It Up" is right up my alley. The instructions on the first DVD prepared you for the 2nd and 3rd dances (DVD's). I'm a senior citizen and after a hard day at work, I can't wait to come home and "shake it up". Great instructions and easy to follow and a great workout....I'm smiling all along. Thanks Beto, you hit a home run, right out of the park. - posted by Libby on 1/30/2013
Excellent!
Fun, colorful, great music, excellent presentation. I have seen Zumba classes, but they look too advanced for me, and I wanted an intro to the steps. This is fun and doable for beginners, and a great change from my normal routine. I also like the short segments so I can do just pieces if pressed for time. - posted by Regina on 1/30/2013
I'm happy
I'm a pretty active 60 year-old and have been doing some kind of exercise video for the last 20+ years, starting with the original Firm videos. I have done the Zumba Gold now about 3 times (did watch the introductory DVD once). I like it; it makes me breathe heavy and gets my heart going and that's what I got it for. It's nice to do something a little different to keep from getting bored. I don't really like to exercise; I do it for the health benefits primarily now. This one at least feels a little less like exercising and more like fun. - posted by Donna on 1/25/2013
Disappointing
I am 55 and have been exercising for years. I bought this set thinking that it would be a good introduction to Zumba and since I can't do step aerobics it would be a fun way to get my heart rate up while having a good time. It is way too slow and I have burned more calories doing Leslie Sansone walking DVD's. It didn't even get my heart rate out of the 55% range. I was expecting more. I guess this is geared more towards the out of shape exerciser or the over 70 crowd. Not worth the money I paid for it. - posted by Kathye on 1/5/2013

Reading a Time Graph
X
Each workout shows a time graph of the workout sequence, from beginning to end. For example, this workout starts with a 10-minute warm-up and ends with a 10-minute stretch. In between, you'll do aerobics, then toning, then a cooldown.

Segments that include both aerobics & toning
Some workouts combine aerobics and toning. If the aerobics and toning are done at the same time, you'll see a "blended" graph. If the aerobics and toning are done in short, alternating intervals, you'll see an "interval" graph.
sample time graph
Level
X
Beginner: Just starting out, very overweight or haven't exercised in over six months.

Intermediate: Active in sports, dance or any regular exercise (2 to 3 times per week).

Advanced: Very active in sports or consistently work out four or more times per week.

Aerobics impact
X
Lower Impact: Both feet never leave the ground at the same time. This minimizes stress on your knees.

Higher Impact: Includes movements like jumps, hops and skips. Very high-impact is called plyometrics.

Mixed Impact: This alternates or combines the above styles.

Aerobics choreography
X
Basic: The easiest to follow. It ranges from simple walking-style marches to sports and athletic movements.

Complex: More intricate combinations and patterns. They're ideal for people who like to dance.

Moderate: More interesting than Basic, less dancy than Complex.

Toning emphasis
X
Upper body: Arms, chest and back.

Lower Body: Legs, thighs, hips and buttocks.

Abs: Abdominals (stomach), core and sometimes lower back.

Total body: Tones all three of the above muscle groups.

Aerobics & Toning
X
Definition: Includes two workout activities. The aerobics segments are fast-paced standing movements like marching, dancing and jumping. These segments require no equipment. The toning sections are slow, controlled movements working against a resistance. These may include Pilates and weight training.

Benefits: The combination of both activities provides a balanced workout. The aerobics burns calories, strengthens your heart and increases stamina. The toning builds lean muscles, increases your metabolism and makes everyday activities easier.
