Qualifications: Certified by A.C.E. and AFAA. A 5-star IDEA presenter and also a presenter for IHRSA, Club Industry, ECA, and AFPA. Director of Program Development for the Body Bar 'Master your Body' Program; an international fitness instructor, consultant, and continuing education provider.
Personal History: I started dancing at three and never stopped moving. Exercise classes started in the dance studios in the early eighties, so I branched out to teach fitness as well. Back then, we had no good shoes, floors, or music with 'even eighths' and every other move we did was 'contraindicated.' But, I grew up with the industry, managing the group fitness program and teaching at the Squash Club in Boston for 18 years. I've been fortunate to have the most amazing opportunities in fitness teaching in 26 countries and 22 states. I have two very cool sons: James, 15 and Jesse, 17.
Workout Philosophy: Balance is everything and everything counts. Your body is where you live and the only way that you physically experience all that life has to offer. So live it, respect it, challenge it, and enjoy it. Live life to the fullest and have no regrets.
Sucess Story: Kate came into my class overweight, out of shape, completely inexperienced, and hidden under a baggy sweatsuit. She hung in there through that difficult time of not knowing the moves, the language, or the "rules" of the gym - slowly and steadily moving from the back row to a comfortable spot in the middle. After about two years of consistent and diligent work, she still did not realize the amazing transformation in her body. One summer day, she ran up to me at the beginning of class, beaming. She had been waiting in line for coffee that day and someone asked her if she was a dancer. Loved it!
