Full Backcover Description

Both fitness & video experts judged this production to be “the best.” The Firm users agree: In an independent poll of thousands of The Firm users, 99% called it the “most effective” of all workouts they’ve ever used. The Firm typically produces results within 10 workouts.

After a cardio/stretch warm-up, this 60-minute workout features 3 cardio+weights intervals. Each has body-specific cardio, before appropriate resistance-sculpt. The 4th interval alternates floor sculpt with same-muscle stretches. The diverse choreography has both exercise variety and effective sequencing. Like many high-budget movies, the music was scored to a rehearsal video. Actress/Dancer Sandahl Bergman is a polished performer with excellent technical virtuosity. A fit, attractive cast of 20 with different body types and ages, illustrate Ms. Bergman's easy-to-follow instructions. Appropriate for intermediate to advanced exercisers.

Certified instructor description:

From 1989, it's the first of the original Firm workouts to use a step box. You get two types of aero/tone training. Most combos blend the aerobics right into the toning (e.g. a plyometric sequence that uses dumbbells to boost the fat-burning while the dumbbells sculpt your arms). Other sequences are classic intervals — pure cardio segments alternated with pure toning intervals. The step box is also used in two ways. Sometimes it's used for true "step aerobics" cardio exercises; other times it's used to improve toning effectiveness (e.g. slowly stepping up and down to target your buttocks). The program ends with a varied set of floorwork exercises.

Like all the original Firms, you get jazz-style music, an elegant set and high quality production. Requires two sets of dumbbells (e.g. 3 & 10 lb). They use a high step, but a regular step will work. Ankle weights are optional. ©1989 (re-released on DVD in 2012, now with chaptering).
