Product Description:

Overview:
Hip Hop Jam is a low impact dance workout that involves the whole body as it moves through three different dance styles: Funk Groove, Street Style, and Cali Pop. These dance styles by nature involve muscles most of us do not use on a daily basis and provide a new way to use muscles. This is a fun workout that greatly helps improve coordination and mood. The advanced dancer and beginning dancer can both benefit from this DVD. 2013 release; No equipment required.

Details:
This workout breaks down moves to a very basic level and gradually layers on the style and groove. Beginners can therefore work through the routines at a very introductory level while a more advanced exerciser can add in all the extras. There are many unique moves in this workout, many based on isolations and rhythm changes of basic moves. Jennifer Galardi teaches and participates throughout the entire workout with two background exercisers.

Description of Moves:
Funk Groove-Street Style-Cali Pop
Most moves start with basic step touches and walks forward and back. These basic moves are then given rhythm changes (singles move into single-single-double) and syncopation to add the attitude and street savy. Isolations of hips, shoulders, and ribs are also frequently seen in the routines. A brief cool down completes this portion with step touches, arm reaches, and back stretches. Examples of specific dance moves include: the cali swing, the strike the swing, pop, swoop, and swagger.

Step Guide
The step guide breaks down all of the moves in the three dance sections at a slower pace than the actual workout. In addition, as the moves are broken down, Jennifer puts them together for practice as they will be in the routine.

10 Minutes Booty Blaster
This involves plies with legs dragging in one at a time, plies with mini-pulses and traditional squats. Jennifer then adds a stretch band (included with DVD) and does traveling side squats (‘sumo squats’) and rear leg extensions with straight legs. Moving to the floor, side leg lifts with the band still on and traditional glut raises round out the Booty Blaster. A brief stretch concludes this portion.

Buyer’s Guide:
Hip Hop Jam is a step by step guide to 3 different dance style routines that can be done at a very basic level or executed at a much more complex level. This is a fun workout. It can be done at a very basic level or at a more complex level with all of the isolations, pops, and attitude. I did it on carpet and did okay, but a wood floor would be easier in some spots. I like the booty section for a little extra work and appreciate that the band comes with the DVD. Jennifer keeps the mood light and easy and encourages you to just keep moving along with her. She is a great cuer and really knows how to break down the moves for the three separate routines. The background exercisers do a great job and have good form. The production quality is very good and the set is beautiful, which I always find inspiring.
