Personal History: As a fitness professional, a mother of three and a wife, I understand first-hand the challenges of balancing healthy habits with the demands of a busy life. I am also the Fitness Expert and Personal Trainer for ShopNBC and advise viewers about a range of health and fitness topics. I continue to train clients one-on-one and teach group fitness classes in the mornings. I started my career as an aerobics instructor and, over the past 17 years, I have incorporated personal training and lifestyle management.
Workout Philosophy: By making fitness a part of your daily life, you can achieve goals you never thought possible. It doesn't have to be an hour at the gym. You can grab 10 minutes here and there and it all adds up! My message to you is every little effort counts. Move your body and your heart will follow! I truly believe that a daily dose of exercise helps you build self-confidence, combat stress, and feel at peace with your body and inner self. There is no one way to get from point A to point B, so try different ways to move your body.
Success Story: I have two stories. The first is from a health club member where I teach. This woman had been coming quietly to my classes for several years. Finally, she stopped one day and said, ”I have always loved your classes!” She said my "ability to motivate and change people's life is a gift and I thank you for changing my life." I had seen her face for years and had no idea how she felt. I really appreciated her kind words - that’s what keeps us going!
The second story is about Joni Hench. I had the pleasure of getting to meet her in person after I found out she lost 85 pounds doing one of my DVDs. She said the DVD had changed her whole life. Wow! It was really exciting to hear how my advice through the years and workouts had motivated her to finally stick with it and make a total transformation. That’s what keeps us going - give to others and they give back!
