Qualifications: Certified by ACE with an Aerobic Instructor Certification and Older Adult Fitness Specialist Certification. Also certified by the Ken Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research.
Personal History: Having led fitness classes for all age levels since 1980, I felt there was a special need for qualified instructors in the older adult population. After visiting numerous retirement recreation centers in my home state of Arizona, I founded a company specializing in older adult fitness - we contract into retirement communities to provide safe and effective fitness classes. I provide training for my instructors - safety guidelines, motivational techniques, music selection/speed, appropriate choreographed movement, and effective transitions. I am married to Kevin, a Southwest Airlines pilot and we have two sons, Matt and Chris.
Workout Philosophy: Fitness is ageless. No matter how old we get, we can always benefit from staying active and strong - it's never too late to start an exercise program. With all the research published about older adults beginning a fitness regime and becoming stronger and more flexible, there's so much hope for improvement of quality of life - no matter when we begin.
Sucess Story: After recovering from seizures and an unexpected brain tumor, Jane Linton, an R.N. from Sun City West, AZ, started exercising with me. She wanted to regain strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. Her program timing and instruction has allowed her to achieve, both mentally and physically, the best health of her seventy-six years. She says that she knows the years ahead will be the best yet.
