Qualifications: Cynthia Harvey,American dance teacher and former ballet dancer. She was a principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre.
Personal History: Cynthia Harvey danced virtually every ballerina role with American Ballet Theatre and was also Principal with The Royal Ballet. Until 1996, Ms Harvey performed as guest artist notably with Baryshnikov and Company and Nureyev and Friends. She performed for numerous documentaries and films.
Ms Harvey has been guest teacher for The Norwegian National Ballet Company, The American Ballet Theatre, The Australian Ballet, Teatro alla Scala, The Royal Swedish Ballet, The Dresden SemperOper Ballett, The Royal Ballet School and the English National Ballet School for example. Co-author of “Physics of Dance & the pas de deux”, Miss Harvey has been on the board of DanceEast, the national agency for dance in England, and has been involved in discussions to improve life of ballet companies and schools. On top of teaching and staging ballets, today she is a standards’ assessor for the Council for Dance Education and Training in the UK.
