Personal History: Jindra began dancing at age 9 training in ballet, tap and jazz. She attended the University of California, Irvine where she began practicing the art of Middle Eastern Belly Dancing specializing in Modern Egyptian Style with Sabrina. She graduated with honors and a BFA in Dance Performance.
From 1997-2003 she performed throughout Southern California as a soloist in several Arabic nightclubs and restaurants such as Sophia’s, Marrakech, Aladdin, Pasha, and Al Andalus. She also performed in Los Angeles as a principal dancer and was assistant choreographer with Flowers of the Desert Arabian Dance Company, Devi Dance Company (with BellyTwins), and Mystique Dance Company. In 2005 The International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance (IAMED) released her first Bellydance workout video namedThe Art of Bellydance©-Get fit with Jindra. During this time she also traveled to Egypt where she trained with Hallah Moustafa and Raqia Hassan.
Jindra left bellydance briefly and went back to her classical dance roots touring the United States and Mexico with the Broadway Smash hit The Lion King from 2003-2008. Afterwards, she moved to New York and was re-acquainted with bellydance by Oreet the creator of SharQui™-The Bellydance Workout. Since she was quite familiar with all aspects of dance including health and fitness, Jindra thought that this would be a perfect fit. She taughtSharQui™ in New York and New Jersey for 2 years at JCC, YMCA of Greater New York, New York Health and Racquet Club, Alvin Ailey, and Body Strength Fitness. Her students there are still missing her classes!
Jindra moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2010 and continued to teach SharQui™ classes a week at various 24-Hour Fitness locations. In 2012 she began to offer classes her own style of Modern Orientale Bellydance which she describes as a fusion of classical bellydance technique with the grace, beauty, and strength of ballet. She loves Bellydance deeply and urges students to dance with proper technique and alignment because a healthy dancer can dance forever.
Jindra currently resides in Santa Fe, NM where she teaches a new class called Cardio Bellydance as well as weekly technique classes.
