Qualifications: B.S. in Exercise Science and Health. AFAA & ACE continuing education provider. Certified in Pilates by the Physical Mind Institute. Certified in step by Les Mills Body.
Personal History: I grew up loving sports and fitness. I was a cheerleader in college at Abilene Christian University, which helped keep me fit (but I still managed to pack on the good ol' "freshman fifteen"). While taking an aerobics college course, a visiting instructor to our class asked me if I would be interested in teaching aerobics. I figured I might as well try it out and I am so happy I did! I taught fitness classes as a "side job" while coaching and teaching middle school before having my first child. After deciding to be a stay-at-home mom, I started teaching more classes in the gym. I realized that the fitness industry was my true passion and started pursuing different avenues of presenting workshops and filming. I’m happy to say that I have found my calling. It is such a great feeling to do what you absolutely love! I am happily married with two children. We live in Belton, Texas.
Workout Philosophy: My philosophy is to not be so hard on yourself! As an instructor, I see many individuals who make these unachievable goals and then wonder why they get burned out. It’s necessary to push our bodies to make them respond, but, if we push too hard, the body and especially the mind shuts down. I think the key thing to do is set small goals and go for them, one step at a time. Find a workout you love and do it, because you love the way it makes you feel - the upside is that your body will begin to look like you feel!
Success Story: Anne from Temple, Texas, is 65 years old. She is a huge inspiration to the people in my class. She makes me really proud. Anne has had two rotator cuff repair surgeries in the last year, but she keeps trucking along and works hard in my classes. She has not let her age or surgeries interfere with her workouts. Her hard work and dedication proves that anybody can achieve fitness!
