Personal History: I was raised with four older brothers in a suburb of Washington, DC. At the age of 18, a friend, who was concerned with my lack of self-esteem and unhealthy drop in weight, suggested I try an 'aerobics' class at a local community center. I only lasted about twenty minutes, but I fell in love with the concept. Fitness empowered me, taught me how to be strong and healthy, and how to love myself from the inside out. Now, I strive with everything I've got to use fitness and education to empower others in the same way.
Workout Philosophy: An obstacle is just that - an obstacle, NOT a dead end. Obstacles are meant to be overcome, so that we may find ourselves stronger on the other side. Be passionate about your life, because it's too short not to live it like you mean it! And, by the way, people who say they "don't have time" to exercise simply haven't made it a priority.
Success Story: I had the pleasure of training a young 14-year-old girl named Alison in Columbus, Ohio, for quite some time. She had challenges with self-esteem, self-worth, and could not open herself up to social situations. Her parents got approval from her school to bring her to the gym to work with me in place of regular PE class, because she had difficulty coping with being in the group setting. We worked together through exercise, education, and friendship to build her confidence from the inside out. Before I knew it, she blossomed like a true butterfly...strong and healthy. She was able to stop her medication and make new friends. And can I tell you how gorgeous she looked for her Homecoming dance? Well, she was almost as beautiful as one of my bridesmaids!
