Qualifications: Introduced to yoga in the 1970's. Practiced with Dharma Mittra in 1992 and became a registered yoga teacher in 1999. Completed the Heart of Yoga advanced practices and teaching methodology in 2004 with Mark Whitwell. Studied various styles of yoga ,including Jiva Mukti with Sharon Gannon and David Life, Iyengar with Kevin Gardner, Anasura with Jim Benaert and Ishta with Alan Finger. Influenced by the Tibetan Buddhist teachings of Gelek Rinoche, Pema Chodron, and the Dalai Lama.
Personal History: My life before yoga was the pursuit of art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. I then moved into advertising and package design. When I realized something was missing in my life, I turned to yoga. Yoga filled me with peace and contentment and no deadlines to meet. I currently only teach yoga and am happily married with four beautiful cats.
Workout Philosophy: My daily yoga practice is geared to how I am feeling at the moment and what I need physically and mentally. The use of breath always plays a big role in both gentle and vigorous practices.
Sucess Story: A student in New York told me that if breathing was the only thing she learned in the yoga course that I was teaching, she'd be forever grateful. These breathing techniques gave her the strength and calmness to get through an MRI.
