Personal History: I was born in a small town in northern England and I started taking dance classes at the age of 4. At 16, I was accepted at a prestigious Theatre Arts School in London where I studied Dance and Theater Arts. It was there that I first got introduced to Pilates for body conditioning and aerobic dance. From then on, I was totally hooked. I loved the feeling of inspiring people to feel good. I took the YMCA Aerobic certification in London and started to teach fitness in between musical theater and TV contracts around Europe. I met my husband (Chris) on a cruise line contract; he was a diver and I was playing Marti in 'Grease the Musical.' We married in England and moved out to LA in July of 199. Chris received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and we opened ATP Specific Training and Physical Therapy in South Pasadena which has around 25 employees, including Pilates instructors, personal trainers, and physical therapists. I'm now a proud mother of two young children (Amber and Ty) and really relate to mothers who have problem juggling children, work, and exercise.
Workout Philosophy: Exercise is about having fun and moving the body. Keep your core strong and everything else will fall in to place - better posture equals fewer injuries.
Success Story: A young woman who was a mother of two children struggled with losing her weight after the second child. She was depressed and really didn't like herself. She started doing one of my boot camp videos and lost over 12 pounds in a period of two months and could finally get in those pre-pregnancy jeans. She now loves to exercise and her depression has lifted.
