Personal History: I have been in show business since I was 3 1/2 so my foundation is in theatre. I am an actress singer and dancer. They call that a triple threat but in NYC where I was born and raised that's just considered normal. My dad is TV actor Johnny Brown from Good Times, and Laugh In. I am 4th generation on my mother's side in show business and first generation in the fitness industry. My husband and I always worked together even before we were a couple. After our engagement we started teaching cardio dance classes together. My husband got me into the fitness business. Our being linked with AFAA comes from a desire we both have to know as much as we possibly can so we can continue to empower our students with the knowledge we gain. We LOVE our students so much. They are marketing us as the rock stars of fitness, but it is more important for us to be thoroughly educated and qualified. We are also studying for our ACE credentials and will be continuing our studies long after.
Workout Philosophy: My greatest desire is for our students and people who use our DVD's to one day be thoroughly in charge of their own health and fitness, and to be completely empowered physically and emotionally. I always like to throw the accolades back to our students because it's not about us, it's about them.
Success Story: We got an email recently from one of our new students (Leslie, Sherman Oaks) who is a lady with asthma. I am so touched by how open and honest she was about her daily struggles and so humbled by her praise for our class and how it is helping her. I do not take it lightly when our students share their deepest emotional information with us. It is a blessing to be trusted in that way. The moment that stays with me on a regular basis came from a young woman who walked up to me at the end of class and told me she had been cutting herself. She had cut three days prior to the class and told me she felt so good after the workout and called it a good day because she had no plans to cut. But as a mother I can tell you that I am haunted by the kind of pain that people are going through on a regular basis.
