Qualifications: Certified as a personal trainer by the ACE. Certified as a Master Instructor for the FallProof Program. Certified by the Arthritis Foundation. Certified in Older Adult Fitness by the American Institute of Fitness Educators. Studied personal training and group fitness through U.C. San Diego’s Fitness Professional Certificate program.

Personal History: Before I learned to walk, I would crawl to the edge of any swimming pool I could find and plunge in, happily swimming underwater until I ran out of breath (I fully expected some convenient adult to scoop me up when I needed to breathe!). From that time on, I've been happiest when I'm moving! As a skinny-as-a-beanpole six year old, I used to love to join my father when he was doing his Army calisthenics. I enjoyed swim team, after learning how to take a breath while swimming! I was on one of the first girls' track teams in California, and was a star on one of the top vaulting teams (gymnastics on horseback) in the country. Some of my happiest childhood memories include jogging in the misty rain with my father (in the early 70’s – before it was “cool!”) and hiking with my family and friends in the nearby foothills. I ardently believe that fitness should be FUN. I'm passionate about helping older adults stay fit and active at any age!

Workout Philosophy: Being active is the key to health and happiness! Enjoy!

Success Story: Jan G, in California: "Sue Grant has worked with me over the past five years, both in a class setting and on-on-one. As a group instructor she has the ability to modify her teaching to suit the needs of each individual. She makes each member feel welcome, greeting everyone by name and encouraging social interaction. She has a good understanding of anatomy and never pushes her clients beyond safety limits. Sue has a vast repertory of exercise moves and routines, enabling her to keep her workouts fresh. Her high energy level, upbeat personality and obvious caring about the health and fitness of her clients make her and ideal instructor. I credit her with giving me the encouragement and appropriate exercises to slow the progress of my Parkinson’s disease."
